At their third primary debate, nearly all of the Democratic presidential contenders offered full-throated support for gun control. In the very recent past, gun control measures bowed to prudence by respecting the rights and expectations of law-abiding gun ownerseven the Clinton assault weapons ban grandfathered weapons and magazines manufactured and purchased before the ban took effect.
Now, however, the rhetoric has shifted and become even more radical and uncompromising.

The Democrats emphasis on gun control shifts the focus away from other dimensions of violent crime. The vast majority of so-called gun violence is just another type of violence, including the continuous train of atrocities committed primarily by young black men and other minorities in our demoralized inner cities.

Why can't we read the whole thing here?
Hoping that American Greatness gets promoted from "Blogger" category to "News" category, as it is probably the best Conservative opinion site out there today, eclipsing sites like PJ Media and FrontPage Magazine, and burying the old school National Review et. al., many of whom are overtly hostile to Trump and Making America Great Again.
Next thing you know, they will try to outlaw murder.
They want us disarmed.
Dems are soft on street crime, and all gung-ho on stopping “violence in the streets” for one simple reason: power. Specifically, street crime serves their interest, by making people generally hostile to the idea of guns. But they’re all in on gun control (or, more accurately, gun confiscation) because - again - it serves their interest. They want TOTAL control of this society, including the option of just getting rid of any opposition. “Getting rid of” in the sense of their ideological forefathers, the Bolsheviks and the National Socialists.
Make no mistake, and have no illusions, the Left in this country is after absolute and unfettered power. When it serves them, they abide by and defend the Constitution; when it doesn’t, suddenly it is a “living document” that was written by old, dead, white, slave-owning men, so that they don’t have to be bound by its limitations.
Because American Greatness is a commercial site and we are supposed to excerpt commercial sites.
Presumably they are paying their authors to create such excellent content, and "clicks" are what they use to generate ad revenue to do that.
If I were posting from an individual blog, then I would consider posting the whole thing. Doing so with this site, which is clearly a commercial enterprise, would be misappropriating their property.
Wrong. I suggest you familiarize yourself with Fair Use Laws. And Free Republic guidelines of what can be posted in full, and what must be excerpted.
Which is why the vast majority of all articles from commercial sites are excerpted, with the handy little atuo-excerpt function that the hosts provide.
What's your problem anyway? If you are too lazy to click on the link then go read something else.
They aren’t tough on gun violence- they are tough on law abiding citizens- IF the left were tough on gun violence, they would be going after criminals and gangs- they don’t- they protect these folks! The only thing the left want is to disarm law abiding citizens and deny us the right to self defense against the gangs and criminals that the left protect!
He is selling a lot of AK clones too.
Most guns are never used in a crime.
By definition all criminals are guilty of committing crimes.
The Democratic position makes no sense if examined on its merits, which suggests that it's really a fake issue, proxy or stalking horse for some other goal.
Too lazy?
People like you love to blog here at FR. While that is tolerable, what is NOT tolerable is clicking on websites that download cookies, crapware, videos, popups, banner ads that cover 2/3 of the page and worse.
The whole purpose of FR is to enjoy a clean ad free environment without the inconveniences you people deliver.
I'm not blogging, that's nonsense.
American Greatness isn't a blog. It's one of the premier conservative opinion sites out there today. They have dozens of contributors and publish a half dozen articles by multiple authors every day. Including some really great and well known ones like Victor Davis Hansen.
I have no connection with American Greatness other than being a satisfied reader. I am not a owner, employee, or contributor to that site. I merely feel that they publish excellent articles that are interesting to discuss here.
I've not found American Thinker full of bloat-ware and pop up ads. Lots of articles are posted here from other sites that are full of that stuff, though. (Gateway Pundit, anyone?)
Actually, the Democrat position makes perfect sense from a communist angle. Communists do not regard criminals as natural enemies of the state; rather they regard the criminal class as useful allies to the state and since communism in practice is inherently corrupt, criminals & the ruling elite oppress the law-abiding majority for their mutual benefit.
Those who say they want only the police and military to possess guns really mean only the police, military, and criminals should have guns.
Those who tout `gun violence’ as a societal ill are actually waging class warfare against gun rights people who are deemed “enemies of the people [state]” and therefore must be disarmed, reedcuated, imprisoned, or liquidated.
It is either total state power, or liberty, that must win.
There is no good faith on the Democrat side. None. But something is looming. PDJT has advanced a very nebulous UBC proposal and Dems are licking their chops.
Have you emailed whitehouse.gov today?
This is a great article.
“They want us disarmed.”
Exactly. They also want us to be scared to death to defend ourselves against anything or anybody. That’s the goal.
It’s an easy way for politicians to look like they are fighting crime, regardless of whether it actually accomplishes anything.
