Are we headed for a solar waste crisis? [Supporters of solar power have no idea what's coming]

Last November, Japan’s Environment Ministry issued a stark warning: the amount of solar panel waste Japan produces every year will rise from 10,000 to 800,000 tons by 2040, and the nation has no plan for safely disposing of it.

Neither does California, a world leader in deploying solar panels. Only Europe requires solar panel makers to collect and dispose of solar waste at the end of their lives.

All of which raises the question: just how big of a problem is solar waste?

Environmental Progress investigated the problem to see how the problem compared to the much more high-profile issue of nuclear waste.

Solar panels create 300 times more toxic waste per unit of energy than do nuclear power plants.
Tree huggers scratch as wonder now what.
Rule one have a plane before you manufacture something
Rule two what will be the result of it

Facts - solar panels are made out of silicone yes silicon and glass yes glass and third aluminum yes aluminum

there are no hazardous waste components and then whatsoever this article is complete and utter

You know, for having a Master's from the high and mighty Berkeley, you sure have trouble with capitalization and grammar. And the fact that your information is completely wrong, doesn't help your case. Electronics are made of way more then three basic substances, and are an integral part of a solar panel; being able to put the voltage somewhere. Sure, it depends on the type of panel, but there's plenty with all sorts of stuff: cadmium, lead, silver, plastics, boron, phosphorous, silicon nitride (this is why a lot of your panels look blue), ethylene vinyl acetate is the glue that holds 'em together, I'm sure not all frames are pure aluminum, there'll be steel and other alloys.
