Why American men are getting less marriageable
Business Insider ^ | January 2018 | Business Insider

If it seems like the number of complaints from your female friends about not being able to find a man is growing, we may finally know why. Somewhere between 1979 and 2008, Americans decided it was much less worth it to get hitched: the share of 25- to 39-year-old women who were currently married fell 10 percent among those with college degrees, 15 percent for those with some college, and a full 20 percent for women with a high-school education or less.

This great American marriage decline—a drop from 72 percent of U.S. adults being wed in 1960 to half in 2014—is usually chalked up to gains in women's rights, the normalization of divorce, and the like. But it also a lot to do with men. Namely, economic forces are making them less appealing partners, and it ties into everything from China to opioids.

Agree. Sometimes b/c isn’t 100% effective. It takes two to tango. Men can do their part just as much. They can wear a condom or get a vasectomy.

The mainstreaming of faggotry on Youtube is beyond disgusting. And that is where kids get their entertainment these days.

“The church doesn’t really seem to do anything to help that.
This is worthy of further study.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has been working to keep families togeather for a long time. Lots of good training on keeping the family togeather.

The Family
A Proclamation to the World
The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.
All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.
In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.
The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.
Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations.
The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed.
We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.
We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.

This proclamation was read by President Gordon B. Hinckley as part of his message at the General Relief Society Meeting held September 23, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Companionship. I’ve been married for 41 years. There have been ups and downs, but we’ve always worked things out. It’s nice to have a partner in life to share things with and make memories with. We are presently in N. MI. on our annual fishing trip. Year 25. Lots of great times.

A big part is from women waiting too long. The Don’t assume that men will be as enthused in your 30’s as they were in your 20’s

DING DING DING! I keep saying this. A woman's attractiveness to men roughly her age falls off a cliff when she hits 30. The feminist message that women should act like men in either putting off getting married until completing their education and getting settled into their careers or that they should spend their youth playing the field or indulging themselves with travel, girlfriends etc and only once their youth was gone get serious about finding a husband was the worst possible advice anybody could ever give a woman. Youth is incredibly valuable but is fleeting. They need to use their peak attractiveness - their early to mid 20s - to get a good guy they can have kids with and grow old with while they have it. Women and men are different and want different things. Its OK to admit that.

Having lived in Eastern Europe and seen the staggering difference between women there and western women....yeah I’m far more attracted to Eastern European, Latin American and Asian women than I am American and Western European women. The former are not nearly as infected with man hating feminazism.

The girl in front was a little heavy on the eye makeup, but very cute. The one behind her was in need of a Japanese whale boat and a harpoon.

Just because you clearly have had bad experiences with women doesn’t mean all of us have.

I haven’t had bad experience. I have had experience. Nice attempt to try and shame me out of my opinion. Not going to work. And companionship can clearly be had outside of a contract with the state. So no, that is not an upside. You have been lied to if you believe it is.

I have no intention of getting remarried, it’s just doesn’t offer any advantages for a man in the current culture and legal atmosphere of the U.S.

Oh, but companionship! Companionship! , the men married 30+ years here will retort. They just don’t understand how dangerous their situation is. Even the ones married in a different era.

Too many (but by no means all) single women have “Lists” that no human could possibly fulfill - the only thing which will void those “Lists” is lots of money, which she’ll take in the divorce ... and on to the next guy with money. Vampires and Black Widows

I would not be able to get my job today either but because of the (illegal) quota systems big companies use. Even if I were offered the job, the institutionalized political correctness would not be attractive to me. Smaller and mid-sized companies might not be as bad. My goal now is to stay focused on the job and keep putting aside for my retirement, hopefully on my schedule. I stay out of the PC stuff at work.

When I was in grad school, in the sciences and engineering, the non-Americans were the majority. Probably hasn’t changed much. Part of the problem is many Americans don’t want to go into these fields; they are not easy. In addition, one has to have the interest and the aptitude. There are plenty of Americans with the aptitude, but without the interest, they won’t be successful. Our culture may play into this more today than years ago - we want things fast, free and easy without much effort.

The foreign students I knew had the the aptitude and interest. It was seen as a great honor in their country and culture to go to an American university (any university for that matter) and if possible, to stay and work here. They knew they couldn’t get a work visa being a liberal arts major.

BA is no longer enough for other reasons ... our education system standards have fallen greatly. If college standards today were what they were 50 years ago, a substantial number of students today would never get in. Universities have “remedial” courses that a significant #/students have to take in the first year or two.

“With the current “court” system it’s usually cheaper to keep her.”

But these guys knew their mates’ leftism before they got hitched. Something that seems so important to them should have been a selection criteria for compatibility. They probably were thinking with another body part. So yes, it might be “cheaper to keep her” today.

On the other hand, the other maxim is that the reason alimony is so expensive ... “because it is worth it”. Or to paraphrase George Strait, “I don’t have a dime, but what I have got is mine, and Lord I am free!”

Women marry men. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of them around these days.

They are out there. But most girls (young women” think the world is reality TV. They get frustrated when things do t turn out they way they want.

I actually got divorced yesterday after 24+ years of marriage and three kids. I got the kids, kept my money, and 90% of the assets (and debts unfortunately) in Texas, a community property state. She just wanted out. Wasn’t even interested in counseling. Moved up to Ohio to live with another dude. I was separated since January. Have dated a few women here who turned out to be either drunks, crazy, or not monogamous... slim pickings. Thought about the Asian lady, easy to get really - but you really have to be careful there. Many will say anything you want to hear to get that green card.

At this point, I don’t think I want to be married again. Relationship, yes. Marriage.... I kind of lost faith in the institution.

At court yesterday, it was packed, with people going up to the judge and in less than a minute each, were divorced. I saw one couple across from me. The guy had red puffy eyes from crying. His name was called and he and his very soon to be ex went up there, raised their hands, and BAM... divorced. She walked back ahead of him, clearly crying. They sat back down and hugged, both crying. I wanted to stand up and yell at them “Why?!?!?!”

I was there alone. Went up there and BAM.... less than one minute later, the judge says “Good luck sir, your marriage is dissolved.”

Just like that.

Marriage was established by God. If your wisdom exceeds that of almighty God, then you are wasting your time posting on an online message board. You should be after MUCH more lofty pursuits.
