Map Shows The True Cost of Illegal Immigration, By State
The Federalist Papers ^ | July 16, 2018 | Brian Thomas

A map posted by HowMuch.net breaks down the economic toll of illegal immigrants state by state, and their findings are extremely troubling.

Using information gathered from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, How Much’s map shows how much money illegal immigrants cost American taxpayers on a state-by-state basis.

California is most devastated by the heavy toll, with a whopping $23 billion in that state alone.

States closer to the Mexican border are most affected, but several states throughout the country still pay billions to support illegal immigrants through education, welfare, law enforcement, and medical care.

Here’s the breakdown, provided by HowMuch.net:

TOPICS: Government; Society
KEYWORDS: aliens; immigration; invasion
The map only shows costs to the states. Federal expenditures on illegal aliens are not included.

I question the numbers. I live in Mississippi and we’ve been run over with illegals for 30 years. Reference the recent raids on the chicken plants near my house, they’ve been employing almost all illegal aliens since the late 80’s and no one has done anything about it despite everyone knowing what was going on. School districts have to have ESL (english second language) classes now and they’re virtually all on medicaid. That map shows Mississippi being at the low end of the scale but I can look around and see they’re costing a fortune.

this also does not include the state and federal costs of legal refugees.

outrageous how the American People have been enslaved by elites to meet their agenda for cheap labor.

****this also does not include the state and federal costs of legal refugees*****

Legal ‘immigrants’ (green cards) must prove their ability to work and have sponsors to cover any financial failure.

Then we have the ‘welfare class’ citizens.

We also have the expenditure of salaries for State and Federal workers who administer these programs.

All on the ‘taxpayers’ credit card!!!!!!!

For MS this works out to about $50 per person annually. For a huge problem like CA this is about $500 per resident. The fact that there is any costs to the residents of the states is bad enough.

Yes it is bad in MS, but far, far worse elsewhere. You really need good border security like we have here.

$623,000,000 is more than 1/3 of what the state spends on their lousy roads (1.65 million). Oh well, if they didn’t spend it on illegals it would just line the pockets of someone else who does not deserve it. That is just the way it goes here.

I’m pretty sure it is the same in most other states.

$ 90,305,800,000 total state “investment” in supporting illegal migrants.

how much could the states (alone) save if fed would build the wall?

bonus ?: how much would the fed gummit (us) save if the fed would finish building the wall???

The lowlife Democrats who keep destroying CT are spending $1.1 billion on illegals who don't belong here. We need to lock up the politicians for stealing our money. They are criminals.

Thanks for the ping.

The amazing thing is that Dems WANT open borders, WANT the entire country flooded with crime and all the horrendous problems caused by illegals, WANT them taking Americans’ jobs, and WANT taxpayers to fund it all.

Why? They want the USA destroyed, and they need illegals’ votes to do it.

Thankfully more and more voters are seeing the light and leaving the Dem party (which would win very few elections without voter fraud as it is).

I would hazard a guess that these numbers are ALL on the low end of the scale. I doubt the study looked into several factors, such as additional school costs (ESL, discipline, etc) and only looked at overall education spending and illegal % of student population. I doubt they included the taxes illegals DO pay - sales taxes, some property taxes through their landlords. I doubt the study included the opportunity cost of missing taxes from people that would otherwise be employed, and legally paperworked. Not to mention the lowered welfare not just from illegals, but how much the State would save on the legal citizens who would move off welfare to fill the jobs the illegals are stealing. Did the study look at the lower property taxes from the lower demand if illegals weren't present? Less competition for living space means housing costs would go down, and therefore property taxes would follow.

I'm guessing there's a lot of things the study didn't account for, going both ways (plus and minus to illegals' overall cost), but the numbers are wrong in the less cost direction.
