Wow. When you intentionally look for stuff like that you never find it. Or it’s the last place you look.

If he’d only applied himself, he’d have found a dozen or so by now.

I really enjoy reading about this stuff. It makes me wonder what they looked like, about their families, their political system, etc.
Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Crete has always fascinated me.
It’s history goes back so far that we really don’t know much about it.

I was talking to a german guy in Munich back when Greece was preparing to host the Olympics and they were way, way behind. I commented on that and he said "oh, that's Greece. You stick a shovel in the ground and you turn up a 3,000 year old thimble. Then the archaeologists come with their little brooms and spoons and you have to just sit around and wait, if they ever let you work there again at all. Usually if someone finds something there by accident they quickly hide it so they don't lose everything."
Takeaway: I hope that guy didn't depend too much on that olive grove to make his living.

If I dig you up the day after you are buried, I get in trouble, if I dig you up after 3400 years I’m a hero.
What is a respectful amount of time to wait before digging up graves and selling their contents?

I am sure the farmer was thrilled to find an ancient site under his farm.
If it were me, I would start shoveling it back over. And I would say nothing until the day after I sold the farm. Its been buried for 2,000 years. Whats another 20 or thirty.

I always thought It funny that in today’s world it is okay for so called experts to dig up the graves of the ancients. We dig up these guys, the tombs in Egypt, etc. If we were to go dig up George Washington, people would lose their minds. But, it is okay to dig up King Tut to see what he had in his tomb.
