The revolution has been canceled, or at least postponed for a while. Apparently, we are told, there were some unforeseen setbacks.
Thats the vague explanation provided for the catastrophic failure of Woodstock 50, a doomed attempt at recreating the famous 1969 music festival in upstate New York for its 50th anniversary. Michael Lang, a cofounder of the original Woodstock and the mastermind behind this recent planned reincarnation, endured months of nightmarish organizational impediments bureaucratic issues, lagging enthusiasm, and the withdrawal of a host of significant investors and performers before ultimately throwing in the towel earlier this week.

Indeed, the collapse of Langs vision is not attributable to any one logistical issue, but is rather indicative of the larger corporatization of the 60s counterculture that Woodstock represented.
Redoing Woodstock makes as much sense as the Soviet nomenklatura trying to reenact the storming of the Winter Palace.
So they couldn’t find the muddy back 40 of someone’s farm, and set up a stage, and recreate the spirit of the original??? People pulled out, pulled financial support and other support??? What the heck???
Acts prefer to get paid to show up at Coachella and play for the elites.
Why would MONEY be an Issue?? They all Support Socialism, Americans have a Right to Entertainment, so much so, it shoulkd be FREE, All COncerts, Shows, Movies, TV Everything Entertainment should be FREE!!!
My older brother was at Woodstock 94. Got invites for Woodstock 99 and his bud eventually became one of the US agents for Chemical Bros, and he’s a big fan. Hard to say no but you cant beat 94’ unless you were a the original..
I doubt it’s the logistics’ which is BS. The guys who run Coachella is 2 blocks away from me, and they know how to book talent and run a weekend fest. Judging by the story, it has to be the roster of “talents” which SUCK..
How would people in a “Woodstock 50” audience be able to charge their phones?
A lot of hype, adoring press, and a flop in the end.
Just like the Democrat party.
“How would people in a Woodstock 50 audience be able to charge their phones?”
Solar?
I was 17 in 1969, lived 45 miles from Woodstock but didnt go. Fast forward to 2016, went to Desert Trip on the Coachella grounds. Saw McCartney, Stones, Dylan, The Who, Neil Young, Pink Floyd. They were selling top notch Cabernet. Some things are worth waiting for.
A shortage of VW buses and bugs...
Far out, man!
FWIW, I keep a solar phone charger around the house.
About as prepper as I get besides brass, lead and whatever’s in the freezer.
Don’t bogart that wind, man...
Funny how MY generation could pull off the original without e-mail, twitter and facebook (Hell, you even had to have rolls of quarters to make long distance calls)
And THIS generation can’t even come up with a partial carbon copy.
How in the world are they ever going to run a country?
My Hubby and I just visited the concert site last weekend. It was an extremely beautiful area & the little museum is very nicely done, with not too much “political” stuff in there, surprisingly. But I don’t think they can recapture what happened there ... times have changed, people have changed.
Gosh, I remember Woodstock.
Lots of drugs.
Naked chicks running around.
Loud music.
People going to the bathroom everywhere.
Oh, wait.
That was kindergarten.
Unfortunately human waste is not considered safe fertilizer anymore. North Koreans learned that lesson the hard way.
What a shame. /s
