Although Mr. Rogers, Fred Rogers, is today widely admired, what would his standing be among liberals if they found out he was a big Trump supporter?

No more unusual than Jon Voight ending up as a big Trump supporter.

Mr. Rogers believed in personal responsibility. Of course he was a republican.

I remember thinking his show was terminally boring when I was a kid. Not that I knew multiple syllable words back then.
Looney Tunes was mucho preferable. :P
Or Captain Kangaroo, for that matter. Gotta love ping-pong balls.
Sometimes I wonder if I might have missed out on something, though.

Sometimes I wonder if I might have missed out on something, though. I thought the same thing after watching that documentary about him that came out not long ago. It was almost tragic how kind hearted he was...to think how me must have suffered as he watched the world for children become bleaker and more damaging.
That he was a Republican was a given. He loved life and children and kindness.

You sure? Mr. Rogers would have been only 16 on D-Day.

Looney Tunes was mucho preferable. :P Or Captain Kangaroo, for that matter. Gotta love ping-pong balls. LOL We must be about the same age, cause.. I felt the same way. "The Neighborhood" just wasn't 'cool'. No self-respecting boy in my school would admit to watching it, even if we sometimes did.
I much preferred Johnny Quest!
