A massive power outage has been reported in NYC, it's probably nothing, but given the location, I would not want to be in Manhattan tonight, it could get interesting if the power is out for a significant length of time...
Not exactly the same. That was from lower Manhattan to below Midtown and mostly on the east side. One freeper too close to the East River farther up was affected. Friends of mine were lugging water up 4 flights to flush the toilet and they were on 21st Street on the east side. This went on for weeks. The long-term problems were caused by electrical equipment being flooded and ruined.
YIKES...last I heard it was 50K. Thanks for the update.
Thanks, pal. You’re obviously a very kind person.
***Im guessing that the outage was caused by Global Warming.***
I’m gonna blame UFOS! as in the 1965 blackout was blamed on them! Remember the INCIDENT AT EXETER?

WINS radio can be heard from NYC

Thanks. I remember when the fire at the Jersey Shore was blamed on the flooding.
She should take the bus tonight. Seriously, be above ground, it'll take longer but would be safer. Can she hangout with coworkers?
I'm glad I left the city this morning instead of tomorrow morning.
All NYC radio stations can be heard where I live in CT.; however, I have the T.V. on ( we get NYC T.V. stations too ) and not the radio. But thanks for the link.
The lower end of Manhattan is on low ground, unlike other parts of Manhattan, which is much higher ground. Manhattan is not one flat land mass at all; it has hills and other parts that are just higher ground, though not built on hills.
42k is nothing. What a bunch of drama queens. Are we supposed to care more simply because its NYC?
That is the problem the rest of us have with the big coastal cities. The world doesn’t revolve around you.
Think again, genius. NYC has many more elevators and subways for people to get stuck in.
We are not going to know the full human toll this thing took until tomorrow.
Trump’s fault for not stopping Barry....
The highest number of people affected that I read last night was 44,000. That’s about 4.4% of the New York City population.
How did a measurement of 4.4% of a group of people become “massive”.
If the event had covered all of Manhattan, or all of Queens, or all of the Bronx, or all of Brooklyn or Staten Island, you might get away with calling the event “massive”. A single section of the upper west side of Manhattan alone, and no other part of NYC, does not make it a “massive” event.
Has the story changed?
70,000 customers would normally mean quite a few more people affected.
You’re right. I guess New Yorkers don’t know how to use steps, and open doors manually. Probably incapable of walking more than 6 blocks at a time as well. Slipped my mind. But then, I’m not a genius.
After my comment last night, imagine my surprise this morning when I woke up to see that ICE was making raids in New York City :-)
I guess I should have referred to it as “big nothing” or “minor”, perhaps a “Little” power outage,
No use making a bigger deal of it than it really is, there is nothing you can do about it anyway.
