The wide gender gap in American politics is not just down to what women want

MEN have long tended to favour Republican candidates; women have voted more for the “mommy party” than men in every election since 1992. Yet the gap now looks like a chasm. In 1992 women and men disagreed over which party they identified with by 11 points. The margin has since widened to 23 points (see chart). For comparison, Donald Trump won white voters by 21 points in 2016 and lost Hispanics by 36 points.

It is no mystery why so many women are abandoning the Republican Party. Lots of the party’s elected officials have vowed to defund Planned Parenthood, which in addition to its other activities provides abortions.

No woman ever abandoned the GOP over Planned Barrenhood funding, and none ever will. If they were that much of an abortion fanatic they were never GOP to begin with.

Men are fleeing the Dems in droves for the simple and direct reason that the Dems hate them and pass up no opportunity to tell them so. Eventually the consistency of the messaging breaks through even the thickest skulls and the “you are not wanted” message hits its targets.

The simple fact is that women are on average community oriented and hence will tip to the collective which means tipping to the false lure of socialism, communism. They get tricked more easily, on average, because on average, their heart pulls harder. That would be FINE if the promises of less suffering had any bearing in reality. In fact by following their hearts, they invite the devil into the living room.

Men remain (though the left is trying to change it,) on average committed to individualism, cooperation by private choice, and accomplishment.

Maybe women just have less experience - i.e. generational experience - in politics, and by that I mean less of a legacy of trying things and seeing what fails and why it fails. Maybe they will wisen up in a generation or two when mom's get to witness the nightmare or at best failed policy and wasted resources of forced collectives and tell their daughters 'do listen to your heart, but don't be ruled by it, be ruled by that combined with a disciplined rational thought process and the lessons from history (if that's still available in a couple generations) about human nature and human beings when combined with power, and acting in groups, sanctioned with a monopoly on the initiation of the use of force.

Then they might see that it's not that conservatives aren't compassionate, it's that we know the government's solution is 40 times worse than any natural suffering.

I don’t believe this. I think both men and women favored Trump, that is how he got elected.

I think those people and more are continuing to support him and will vote for him next election.

Democrats are on track to win the lowest percentage of the white male vote in their history. Why are there never any histrionic articles about why men are abandoning the Democrats?

And that goes for the male of the species as well. Real men don’t kill any fetus, infant, or baby, especially their own flesh and blood.

But it doesn't change the case at all.

I'm not saying women shouldn't be allowed to vote. I'm saying if you care about freedom and disdain collectives, you would wish they all would voluntarily stay home. That's true even if white women had gone 60% for Trump.

Trump won the vote of white women with 53%.

I doubt that he achieves that total in 2020. He will need to make up the deficit with more votes from white men, hispanics, and blacks. He will enjoy a net gain in voters. The Democrats know this and they are planning to counter this with voter fraud.

In my opinion single women are more likely to vote for Democrats. They don’t have a partner to discuss politics. If you see a bumper sticker for Hillary or Bernie,look at who is driving. Most times it is a middle age women with glasses that looks like a librarian. Even if you saw her not in a car, you could take an educated guess she would be a liberal.

Just look at a televised Trump rally. Plenty of women, young and mature. Plenty of men too.

Not too many blacks though.

I guess these are the folks who got in line first, who waited the longest and got the best seats.
