Presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway stands accused of violating the Hatch Act. The alleged violations consist mostly of comments Conway made on various news shows disparaging certain Democratic candidates such as Joe Biden, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren.
I very much doubt that the Hatch Act was intended to bar the presidents political advisers from criticizing potential opponents. The Office of Special Counsel (not to be confused with Robert Muellers former shop) is the outfit that found Conway guilty of Hatch Act violations and said she should be removed from her job. It describes the purposes of the Act as to ensure that federal programs are administered in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect federal employees from political coercion in the workplace, and to ensure that federal employees are advanced based on merit and not based on political affiliation.

I’ll bet this is a holdover from the Obama nightmare.
Is there a law that can stop her husband from talking?
They've already went after McConnell.
They are trying to pick off Trump loyalists one by one.
Ignore them. She speaks for the president. To criminalize speaking for the president is beyond silly.
It’s a holdover from the Bush nightmare.
The fact that that woman sits on the FEC still, 12 years after her term expired, is a major scandal in and of itself.
One which Trump and the Senate should correct in full, immediately.
She probably wishes there was a law that could stop him from eating.
The President should say “Kellyanne, you can keep your job on one condition. DUMP that loser husband of yours.” Why not leverage the situation?
Is there a law that can stop her husband from talking?
George Conway has an unusual antagonism to Mr. Trump. Its unusual, and I sure hope its not for the usual reason.
This does seem like pretty small potatoes.
Never heard of this, can't be an executive functions.
ZER044’s operatives Kathleen Sebilius & Julian Castro got political too & all was forgiven by Democrats.
Once again, the rules are always different for lunatic liberals.
He spent 20 years as a prosecutor in California before becoming staff director for U.S. Senator John McCain at the United States Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
The FEC is not the United States Office of Special Counsel. You must be referring to Ellen L. Weintraub.

The Hatch Act was never meant to apply to Political advisers, or to Presidential appointees that serve at the pleasure of the President.
It was always recognized that these are political appointments, not based on merit by exam or other preference.
Not yet - but when there is, it can stop all of us from talking....careful what you wish for...
True. We must protect our rights to free speech.
Maybe we can make just a small change to the First Amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, except for George Conway, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Yeah - it takes a bit of twisting for each of us to get his own personal way...but in George Conway’s (and I might have added the press in with him), I’m OK with it.....making me a “kinda-sorta Constitutionalist”....might have to change my mind.......
