Ellen DeGeneres isn’t ready to throw her support behind a single Democratic presidential candidate to face off with Donald Trump, but she hints that she may be leaning toward one. DeGeneres told Variety that although she remains mostly apolitical on her talk show and in her standup, she’ll definitely be involved in the 2020 campaign.
“I care deeply about our country and what’s happening to it,” she said Thursday at Raleigh Studios, where Netflix held an Emmy campaign event for her standup special “Relatable.” “And the world, the environment and everything that’s going on. I have my opinions. I try not to bring it in. I’m not a political comedian. I’m political but I’m not the kind of person that’s going to talk about politics in standup. But I definitely think that we need a change, and we’ll figure out who that person is. I’m going to wait and see who ends up getting everybody’s vote and we’ll see who I get behind… I kind of have a candidate but I’m just going to wait.”
Even though she doesn’t get specifically political on her show, DeGeneres has invited several candidates on to discuss their plans, including Pete Buttigieg and Cory Booker.

Before she came out she was a mildly entertaining comedian. Of course her predilections were obvious but they didn’t detract from her routine. Once she came out it became difficult to see her as anything except an advocate and that made her entertainment value about like watching a propaganda speech.
Need a change? Yeah, I guess all this success for America is too much. I guess record low unemployment is intolerable, I guess someone who actually puts America first just won’t do. :-/

I am truly sick and tired of the expression “We need a change” as what needs to change and what that change will look like is undefined and varies from person to person.
If Ellen wants a change, then she needs to work on that herself and stop expecting others to do it for her.

Ellen Degenerate burst on the scene two decades ago aided by her lover Anne Heche. But three years of Ellen was enough to scare Anne straight enough to marry and later produce two children. True, Anne Heche is somewhat mixed up.
Yes, Ellen is America’s best-loved carpet muncher (wasn’t that said of A. Hitler?) just like Pete Seeger was America’s best-loved commie. Doesn’t make them mainstream, though.
