7 Steps to be as Happy as a Finn —and Happier!
The Sun Also Rises Radio Show ^ | 2 May 2019

Posted on 05/02/2019 6:13:19 AM PDT by Thistooshallpass9

Finland has just been named the happiest country in the world for the 2nd year in a row. The U.S., meanwhile, has fallen in the rankings from 18th to 19th. People in America and around the world are asking: What is Finland doing right? Why are the Finns happy? Can the Finnish model be exported to other countries?

For this episode, we traveled to Finland to observe and speak with its people and to try to get some insight into those questions.

You’re not kidding. I just visited Helsinki with my wife to put this episode together, and we were both just dumbfounded by how beautiful so many of the women are. Upright fellas there, too. I reckon it’s just a strong tribe.

That’s true. This episode gets into the fact that Finland is remarkably homogeneous in terms of the ethnicity of its population. Is diversity strength? The Finnish model suggests otherwise.

My wife is Finn. Yup, blonde and slim, and scary bright to boot. I lucked out.

This is just an audio file because there is no article. It’s an episode of a radio show.

Haha they really do eat well there! In Helsinki, the fish is amazing since it’s all caught fresh right in the Baltic, and the reindeer hotdogs and moose burgers were really delicious, too.

My favorite food is fresh and properly prepared fish. I love even sardines, partly because there is no real mercury risk (they don’t live long enough).

You used to be able to get that at China Panda. They had it flown in, but they had a limited delivery area. Then they stopped getting it altogether.

One, leave Finland and live somewhere where winter does not last six months and there is more than four hours of daylight in Dec - Jan - Feb....

Nokia is a great company and there are some beautiful women. OTOH, why do you think they drink all that vodka?!

Does Finland have liberal grinches running around spreading their unique brand of strife and gloom? Does their government mind its own business? What’s the muslime-to-human ratio?

All factors that play into an overall sense of contentment ...

The population of Finland is 5.5 million. US is the happiest country with a population over 100 million
