My dad's house burned down when I was a kid due to faulty wiring.

Sometimes bad things happen.

I'm not ruling out terrorism though as that was my first thought.

I agree. And it's not a conspiracy that we don't yet know what caused it. Such an investigation could take weeks.

Has any terrorist organization taken responsibility? It would be unusual for such a massive historical loss to be terrorism if no one is claiming responsibility.

In the early 80s, I had a clock-coffee maker. One afternoon, I noticed some sparking in the dark kitchen and smelled burning plastic. When I checked to see what was going on, the wiring in the clock had shorted and the ‘innerds’ actually caught fire. I unplugged and got it to the sink. Had I not been home or had been asleep, I would have had a major fire.

In the early 2000s I walked by a large 17-inch tube-type computer monitor. The computer and monitor were turned off. I noticed some smoke, heard some sizzling and smelled burning plastic. The ‘innerds’ in the monitor had started burning. Luckily, I was able to unplug and douse. Again, had I not been home or had been asleep, I would have had a major fire.

They can happen. There are numerous stories of appliances and TVs starting fires.

I'll bet it was almost everyone's first thought, especially in Europe.

It doesn’t work to compare Notre Dame to a private home. Yes, accidents and faulty wiring can happen anywhere, but Notre Dame must have had an enormous amount of security measures in place and fires should have been observed and extinguished quickly. Notre Dame is an international religious treasure in a terrorism-prone region where churches are often attacked. There was a terrorism incident there last year and the second largest church in Paris was set on fire just one month ago. Surely, there were cameras everywhere and a large security team in place. Yes, I know that the structure was wooden, but I have my doubts that this fire started as a little spark.

It most likely was an accident with the repairs going on.

However, I would NOT put this past the liberal media to cover anything up and lie about it. That is how cynical I am because they lie about everything.

#Breaking: Just in - French prosecutors are launching an extensive forensic research at the fire! Saying we cannot speculate just yet, what, who and how the fire has been caused at the iconic cathédrale Notre-Dame de #Paris. #NotreDame #France pic.twitter.com/Kozf7VWk9z— Sotiri Dimpinoudis ❁‏ (@sotiridi) April 15, 2019

#Update: WORLD EXCLUSIVE my source on the ground in #Paris says that the firefighter has said, it was impossible that the fire managed to spread so fast at the #NotreDame because electrical equipment or wires in the wooden space, was prohibited to be used in fear of sparks.— Sotiri Dimpinoudis ❁‏ (@sotiridi) April 16, 2019

Says all electrical wires of the construction crew, were guided on the side of the building or the cranes if used at the time, and was not in contact with the wooden space at the #NotreDame church in #Paris. Says regulations were strictly and always followed by the company.— Sotiri Dimpinoudis ❁‏ (@sotiridi) April 16, 2019
