The Earth Hour gesture calls for greater awareness and more sparing use of resources, especially fossil fuels that produce carbon gasses and lead to global warming. WaPo
Last night at 8:30 local time cities around the world marked Earth Hour a global scale virtue signal gesture by turning off the lights in a call for global action on climate change.
Individuals, businesses and cities in 188 countries and territories worldwide joined Earth Hour 2019 to speak up for nature and inspire urgent action for the environment. As Earth Hour rolled around the globe, thousands of landmarks switched off their lights in solidarity for our planet Individuals pledged their support for the planet, challenging world leaders to push the preservation of nature up the global agenda. Unfortunately not every country around the globe participated
Pyongyang, North Korea,

and Caracas, Venezuela, being well ahead of the curve, had already extinguished most of their lights.

While the Cuban people have been accustomed to toiling in the dark for half a century now.
Cubans, traveling by moonlight
I must admit, its a fun way to celebrate the last Saturday in March each year but I doubt that the natives would be keen on extending it to any additional areas or extending it for any significant length of time as it would quickly become far too inconvenient to their daily lives. If you dont believe me, ask the citizens of Democratic-Socialistic Venezuela: Venezuela returns to 'Middle Ages' during power outages.
Walking for hours, making oil lamps, bearing water. For Venezuelans today, suffering under a new nationwide blackout that has lasted days, it's like being thrown back to life centuries ago.
El Avila, a mountain that towers over Caracas, has become a place where families gather with buckets and jugs to fill up with water, wash dishes and scrub clothes. The taps in their homes are dry from lack of electricity to the city's water pumps.
So turn off all the lights you wish to mark your membership in the New World Order tribe but remember: while you are free to muck about the rocky shoals in the dark, your darkness ends where my light begins.

Better to light a single candle than curse the darkness.

What did liberals use for light before candles?
Electricity.
(Saw this yesterday on FR. Pardon the plagerism.)
I drove home in a snow storm last night.
I worked as a control center operator in a coal fired power plant for 31 years. Never noticed an excessive load drop during “Earth hour”. Never.
Load drops usually began after 11 pm when people went to bed.
Im working on an iPhone charger using a candle. My Go Fund Me page will be out next week. /s
I’m in!
Better To Light a Single Candle
Come on, let’s be really earth conscience and light cow farts getting rid of methane and saving the earth in the process.
Damn! I missed it! I usually use this event as my time to test every piece of power equipment, turn on every light, lamp, fan, blower and appliance in the house. Run the heat AND the air conditioner. Run the humidifier AND dehumidifier. Etc. After all, one needs to be sure one’s devices are properly functioning.
Sort of like “change your smoke alarm batteries when you change the clock” - test run everything with an engine, motor, plug or pipe for 1 hour during “Earth Hour”.
The liberals I know all drive their cars more than I drive my car. They are all such hypocritical liars.
Venezuela and North Korea had already complied.
Valenzuela and North Korea lead the way on Earth Day. The Democrats point to them as the example we should be following.
I missed it also and I feel almost as bad when I forget to put the Flag out on certain days. However, looking back, I’m pretty sure my electric furnace kicked in about that time.
I’ll make up for it by test running all my gasoline powered engines today.
Better to be a smart-ass than a dumbass:)
Should I burn a paraffin candle, or spermaceti candle?
The ultimate science deniers deny technology as a solution to our physical problems.
Cow Farts power My Cell Phone!
So. . . Tire fire on the 20th ????
Ooops. . . not tuned in on the Virtue Signal frequency. . . I thought it was for Earth **DAY**. .
I wish I had known. I like to turn on all the lights I can.
