Lots of tactical advantage.
Open carry offers tactical deterrence.
Concealed carry does not. Many concealed carriers have been attacked, because they attacker thought they were unarmed.
Both methods offer advantages.
The advantages are different for each method.

I want easiest access for big cats and bears.
Otherwise, when at the flat lands or in society, agreed, better to be concealed.

When they passed open carry here in TX it took the hassle out of carrying concealed - concealed meant CONCEALED. No printing, accidental slips, nothing.Ditto that here in OK....The "printing" and someone just seeing the butt of your pistol...and you are in "trouble"...is a joke.

It is not even clear if this is deliberate open carry or bad concealed carry.
It looks like it could be the latter to me, because of the position of the gun (behind the right hip) and the t-shirt, which easily could ride up over an in-the-waist-band holster. It is clear the gun was in a holster.
This is described at open carry. It may have been just a bad case of concealed carry.
In either case, open carry behind your back, in a holster without any retention, is a bad idea.
For that matter, concealed carry in a holster without some sort of retention is a bad idea.

The only place I feel the temptation to open carry is if I ever make it out to Tombstone, Arizona. And I would do it with my Uberti SAA in a hand tooled leather rig.

That would be a lot of fun. SAA models are beautiful. OR, go for the 1851 navy like Clint Eastwood's spaghetti western character (or Wild Bill Hickok)
