My daughter loves the Marvel Universe, but I grew up with D.C. comics. I remember in the 70s watching the old "SuperFriends" cartoons as a kid. I've always thought D.C. had better heroes. But I have to admit Marvel has the better movies and storylines.
Which do you prefer?
Might want to cast around for alternatives.
Seems to me like the brand holder at least for Marvel is trying real hard to kill the franchise.
If you are looking for stories packed with social justice, just pick both.
I read both for years. Who was best has never been cut and dried.
It depends on the time, and often used to depend on who was paying the most for the best writers and editors as the pay was too low for writers and editors to afford extravagant luxuries like loyalty to their employers.
There are lots of alternatives, it just takes work to find them.
Never really collected comic books. Marvel has the better movies.
DC could catch the Marvel magic if they just did some small films about second- or third-tier heroes. That way they can learn how to make good super-hero movies (that arent Batman) without incurring fan wrath about getting a details wrong about Superman or a similarly sacrosanct icon.
Mostly Marvel (Captain America and the X-Men were my faves)....On the DC side, I thought Batman and his assorted villains were a really well done franchise.
My main beef with DC is that they just have too many overpowered superheroes. It’s gotten worse over the years. Now everyone in the Justice League seems like a cosmic-level hero.
Marvel has a bunch of great “street-level” heroes and villains...it makes the whole Marvel Universe seem a little more down-to-Earth.
Q.
I would have to say Marvel. And I say this as someone who has over 250 superhero DVDs, of both Marvel and DC. The only comics I still have (from original purchase) are all six of the ‘Infinity Wars’, and all 33 (3x11) issues of ‘The New Gods’. After 30 years, the entire rest of the world has finally caught up we me, as far as what constitutes a good comic book.
From a comics perspective, each company has a lot to offer. But I would probably restrict her to things published before 2000. That’s about the time the SJW mob took over and started pushing liberal propaganda thinly disguised as comics. There was always a bit of that, but it became “in your face” around then.

Did that include Super Six?
Make mine Marvel. They’re doing well with their movies using the same formula as they used in their comics: they gave their characters human faults, and created an interconnected universe. Avengers: Endgame will be what? The 22nd chapter in a long story that began with the first Iron Man movie.
Over their long history, DC has produced some excellent comics. I really liked Frank Miller’s Batman, Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing and many other too numerous to mention. But the DC Universe has always lacked cohesion. The only really good DC movie was The Dark Knight and that was only because of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker.
I’m a Batman fan, and I loved JLA.
Garfield.
In the end, I think DC has a deeper bench of characters, so to speak; once you get past the top characters at Marvel, there aren't that many that are truly interesting (to me, at least).
This is sad.
