Backers of the measure want Congress to clarify the constitutional right to bear arms (Photo: Chris Eger/Guns.com)
A group of Hawaii state legislators wants Congress to repeal the right to bear arms or at least specify that it is not an individual right. The resolution filed Tuesday in the Hawaiian Senate, SCR42, is backed by freshman state Sen. Stanley Chang, best known for defeating the chambers last Republican in 2016.
Changs measure, which has four co-sponsors, would request Washington discuss either scrapping the Second Amendment altogether or clarifying that it only applies to organizations such as state militias.
Chang, a Honolulu attorney who studied law under now-U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, throws rocks at the U.S. Supreme Courts 2008 Heller ruling that held the Second Amendment protected an individual right to arms.
(U)nder this individual right theory, the United States Constitution restricts legislative bodies from prohibiting firearm possession, or at the very least, the Second Amendment renders prohibitory and restrictive regulation presumptively unconstitutional, notes the measure.
Hawaii has some of the strongest gun control regulations in the country, requiring the registration of all firearms, capping magazine capacity for handguns at 10 rounds, and mandating a permit to purchase a gun. The state issues so few concealed carry permits that local police chiefs have been repeatedly hauled into federal court to defend their may issue practices, with mixed results. Likewise, ost NFA-regulated firearms and suppressors are prohibited for the average Hawaiian.

There’s a solution for fascist lawmakers.
They’re trying to repeal that solution.
Too late, Hawaii. The Supreme Court in Heller already ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right, and that it applies to the States in McDonald.
It’s time to dump that third world craphole of Hawaii and let them take care of themselves. We don’t need them doing any more damage to the United States than they’ve already done. Forty Nine states, fifty six for Obamanoids, is all we really need.
I believe the SCOTUS has already classified his interpretation of the 2A as an individual right.
Efforts to repeal the Second Amendment give aid and comfort to the enemy.
Liberals will continue such efforts until they are tried, convicted, and sentenced to be publicly hanged.
Just let HI capsize.
Looks like the socialist, leftist and Muslim Rats are nervous about the number of firearms owned by true American patriots.
When lawmakers tell you that you don’t need the 2nd Amendment, that’s when you need it the most.
shall not be infringed . . .
What language do they speak in Hawaii?
the Second Amendment renders prohibitory and restrictive regulation presumptively unconstitutional,
And so it is.
If the Hildabeast had been elected, we wouldn't have a Gorsuch or Kavanaugh on SCOTUS. We'd only have Justices Alito and Thomas as the lone conservatives and Queen Hillary would be petitioning SCOTUS for a new 2nd Amendment 'interpretation'.
Settled law - go away. It doesn’t get any more settled and the Bill of Rights.
A better idea, let’s repeal Hawaii’s statehood. They can go away along with PR and be independent. The harbor and airfield are nice for the military, but frankly, I’m beginning to question whether that is enough to justify having a state full of lazy, anti-American communists in the Union.
I’m standing RBG watch. Here’s hoping.
They have NO IDEA what “weight” to apply to the “don’t even think about it” side of the scale.
Bullseye!
KMA! Come and take it, fools!
Ummm, Congress can't overrule the Supreme Court. And the latter has said that it is indeed an individual right.
Read a civics book.
