This is a great deal I found this week at Aldi. Only $1.99 per pound for this corned beef. In fact, I was surprised it happened so early since St. Patrick's Day is still 2 weeks away. I'm sure there will be other deals but why wait? Grab this one while there are still supplies available. In addition to enjoying this corned beef for dinner, I also heated up several slices of leftover corned beef along with eggs and had them for breakfast this morning.
“SAVE THE AVACADOS!” (I’ve heard they’re endangered)
“The points are fattier. They work much better at low heat on a grill to impart the necessary juiciness required for awesome barbecue.”
Good to know. The best “roast beef” I ever had was slow roasted brisket. It was in a dormitory cafeteria, believe it or not. I’m guessing it was really braised, and now I’m thinking it may have been from the point.
Tough cuts of meat with a lot of fat and connective tissue can undergo a remarkable transformation into something succulent when braised. Pork shoulder, beef chuck, veal shanks...stuff that used to be cheap until the masses figured out how to prepare them properly.
If you go to Aldi right as they open, go to meat section and many times they places stickers on some of their meat. I got several racks of St. Louis cut ribs for a $1 or 2.
I place them in the freezer. I cooked three racks yesterday for my son’s birthday party.
“Just dont buy their avocados”
Is there a reason why not to?
Because avocados are gross.
They put my corned beef in a can.
Which probably explains the cashier's lack of objection when I bought four packs. Something for everyone to keep in mind. Remember, this deal is only good until Tuesday.
I never buy there Haas avocados but I do like the big ones they sell.
I heard Wednesday is the best day to go to Aldi for their discounted meats.
Thanks for the tip
Would that be red or gray corned beef ?
The tough cuts are from the working parts of a cow, the legs and above and the chest. They take a long time at low heat to break down. Ive noticed stores cutting chuck into steaks. Because the marbeling looks inviting, they charge an ungodly amount for a cut unsuitable for use as a steak. There are also some cheap soups vide machines around now which will let you cook a chuck all day to break down the fibers and render a tender, juicy meat. It wont ever get undercooked because the temperature wont get higher than the level you set for the water. Of course youd have to finish it on the grille for some charrrrrrrrr.
Soups was an auto correct. Sous vide is correct.
Amazing. Even where I buy my meats a 3lb. flat cut brisket is 5.99 per pound.
Thanks for the link. I’m gonna try it. Love corned beef brisket but anxious to fix it a different way.
The best meat deals I got were at Target in 2017 just before Hurricane Irma hit Florida. They were just about to close early due to the hurricane but just before they did, they drastically cut the prices of their meats. Steaks you could get like for a couple of bucks each. I bought some but was only limited by the idea of losing electricity (and refrigeration) for at least a day. Well, the hurricane did hit but only on the west coast of Florida and we only lost electric here for about an hour. However, I did enjoy the LOW COST meat I did pick up. I only wished I had grabbed more.

I have one and I love it. You can cook almost anything with it. Mine is an Anova immersion circulator. It cost about $80. The last thing I cooked in it were split chicken breasts that I got for $.99 per pound. Cooked them at 145 F for about 3 hours and used them to make a most tasty chicken salad for sandwiches.
And yeah, you cook it sous vide to the desired temp, maybe 5 degrees below if you’re going to sear it afterward.
I like it even more than my instant pot. That may change when I actually start to use the pot. The immersion circulator is just too easy and has me spoiled.
I always BOIL my corned beef. Maybe I’m just lazy because that is the easiest way plus I get to cook the cabbage at the same time.
That is good to know.
I like stocking up on bargains.
Everyone I purchased from Aldis was brown inside.
I like most of Aldi’s products, but I’ve never had any luck with their produce.
