GOP 2016 Candidates Mute on Trump Policies
3/1/19 | self

Posted on 03/01/2019 3:11:29 PM PST by Moe-Patrick

To those who backed any candidate besides Trump, why are those candidates not fighting as hard as Trump for the policies conservatives support? They have microphones, cable news access, and twitter. They do not fight. Would you still support them?

Forgive my pessimism, for 3 years there has been rampant petty criticism of tweets, gaffs, and missteps followed by armchair quaterback advice. Everytime I see this from GOP all-talk-no-action wannabes and some folks here I always wonder why that vitriol isn’t aimed at those NOT fighting for conservative policies. The only individual putting policy over popularity is Trump, not Cruz, Rubio, Rand Paul, Kasich, Graham etc. This is nothing new because they only care about their own future.

Because they lost. I voted for Cruz, but I’m glad Trump won. The losers can pound sand.

I think Cruz is supporting Trump and his policies just fine.

Bush League Republicans support the ongoing invasion of the country.
Trump threatens their life’s work.
They are not going to support reversing their life’s work.

It looks like your butt is still hurt from the primaries.

You might want to put some ointment on that.

“I think Cruz is supporting Trump and his policies just fine.”

Yes.

Even Lindsey a Graham is.

This is a stupid post.

That said, there is still a huge RINO problem. McConnell is inconsistent and Romney is a problem.

Per your response - I think Cruz is supporting Trump and his policies just fine.

———————————————————————————

How so? Is voting ‘yes’ enough? Many vote yes making them just as good as Cruz. Where is the public messaging? How is Cruz convincing americans that conservative policies work? Trump talks to America everyday about his policies. The GOP remain silent allowing Democrats to define them and their policies. Not a winning formula.

You may have missed my initial point: One cannot sell STRANGERS vacuum cleaners without knocking on doors. The GOP in general only tries to sell vacuum cleaners once every 4 years. Trump tries to sell vacuum cleaners everyday.

See post 7.....and per your assessment ‘This is a stupid post’, how do you quantify that?

I agree; and I supported Cruz right up through the primaries. I think he’s an honorable man and I’d still support him. I blame divine intervention for Trump’s election. This country needed a good shaking, and I think Trump is the only one of them that was up to that task.

humblegunner, having seen many of your comments including your comment here I believe there is a pattern. Your comments seem to be unproductive and purposely argumentative.

To answer your accusation, I am NOT butt hurt over the primaries thus I do not need ointment. Thank you for being concerned /s/. Had you responded with a coherent opinion, i would have responded with a more informative answer.

Now that Mitt is in the senate, I am still waiting for him to go after Big Bird (NPR).

I guess that doesn’t matter to him anymore. It’s the one thing I could support him on.

Rand Paul has been a MAJOR supporter of Trump in the Senate and pubicly. Cruz has quietly gone about being a leading conservative in the Senate and has supported almost all of Trump’s actions. Likewise, Graham has come around and been surprisingly pro-Trump on most things, though not all ...

either you’re woefully ignorant of what’s been happening on a day-to-day basis, or you’re just stirring the pot here to entertain yourself ...

hey Moe, i usually ignore vanities, but your expressing honest pessimism prompts me to hopefully give you some encouragement.

no one could have been more pessimistic than me 10 years ago hitting the streets with my local tea party. but something had to be done then to prove that all wasn’t hopeless for our nation.

after years of effort we conservatives (some of whom were disgruntled republicans and some of us who were ex dems like me, and some who were just new to following politics at all) at least have a voice in the culture now, and the leftists are reacting to us. we’ve got a long way to go, but things are going our way for the first time in many decades. and God is definitely calling the shots.

President Trump, who would not be there without us and more importantly God, is out there in answer to our prayers and at least speaking the truth to the corrupt culture we now live in. so God has this. the signs of the end times are all lining up. for a Christian, there is much to be joyful about, we may soon be going home for good. may God bless.

“either you’re woefully ignorant of what’s been happening on a day-to-day basis, or you’re just stirring the pot here to entertain yourself ..”
——————————————————————————

To suggest that I would post anything to create a negative result is unfounded and rude. I have a long history of both posts and comments and they speak for themselves. My post was to encourage conversation and spotlight the failings of the GOP in general. Frankly I am surprised at the commentary on this post. I was hoping for thoughtful introspective opinions.

As for my post, somehow everyone missed my main point: Voting yes is NOT enough, if the GOP wants public support they must talk to americans as often as possible. They are NOT doing that. They are allowing Democrats to define them because they are silent and have been for decades. The conversation should be about ‘Is the GOP doing enough?’ If you think so, fine, I do not.

In response to your speculation that I have not been paying attention and could be woefully ignorant of what happens daily, I watch Fox, Foxb, CNN, MSNBC everyday allday. I have 4 screens on at once. I watch the left to understand what messaging (indoctrination) they believe is effective, I watch the right to see what messaging they are attempting. So yes, the GOP votes for the most part with Trump and judges are being appointed. Rarely do I see Cruz or Paul. Paul likes to throw in a ‘no’ vote every so often so he can grandstand. Graham was a shill for McCain until he died and now he’s pro Trump because he wanted to be the head of the judiciary committee (self serving). There is no GOP messaging on any of these channels. Joe the plumber in Idaho has no clue what the GOP stands for. Why would he vote Republican? How anyone here can believe that the GOP wants what we want blows my mind. When they start fighting for it publicly and often, then I will believe them.

Yes, the comments on this post irritated me, I expected thoughtful, respectful responses. Instead they were accusatory and rude. If one has nothing productive to say, best to be silent.

I think going into 2020, the President is all alone and is just fine with that.

Exactly! You should never have made such an unproductive vanity post in the first place!

Your comment - “Exactly! You should never have made such an unproductive vanity post in the first place!”

————————————————————————

Asking that the GOP stand up and stand strong is very unproductive, you are right /s/. Maybe I should have penned the post under the name of Mark Levin calling them the stupidest people on earth - see Mark Levin’s comments via the latest article on Free Republic.

My goal was to spark a conversation, not to be ridiculed for posting. If you are happy with the GOP, fine. Don’t criticize the messenger because you can’t debate the topic.
