When people think of having a backup pistol, “Dirty Harry” pistol usually comes to mind.

1. What does Claude carry? I’d guess not s .25.

2. Sure, 25s &32s kill, maybe even stop, but as evidenced by the tables posted, no where near fighting calibers do. Are just wanting to talk, or fight?
3. Do cops or operators generally rely on mouse gun? Why would you?

That’s the Beretta 418 and would have been 007’s .25 auto “with the taped magazine and sawn barrel” mentioned in Doctor No.

Rare & expensive nowadays, like $700 or so.

But, for the private citizen, (Joe like us) once the shots have been fired and the bad guy runs away. The threat is gone, you can now call the police to get after them.

The threat is NOT gone. The perp knows where you live, you don't know where he does. It seems prudent to make sure he can't run away.

I know I can hit a man in the eye at 10ft with my Sig P232.

And I’m OK if I miss and hit him in the cheek or the forehead.

Or, dead on the nose.

If he happens to have a gun, I’ll try to make sure I shoot first. If I don’t, I’m probably dead but will empty the magazine anyway so the cops won’t have to look very long for who it was that killed me.

Rule #1 - Shoot first
Rule #2 - Keep shooting

No less than Frank James carried a hammerless 32 when he was on the lecture circuit later in life and got a death threat.
John Dillinger carried and used one.
Sacco and Vanzetti used 32s quite effectively.
And as for the woeful 25, two points. God only knows how many people in the 70 and 80s were killed with those things.
And this is food for thought... when the Soviets committed that mass murder on Polish officers in the Katyn Forest, the executioner/murderer used a Walther 25 ACP for almost all of them.
He murdered 22,000 men in about 6 weeks. Almost all were a single shot to the neck or head.

If I had a 25 I wouldn’t jump out and try to stop a bank robbery, or take on a squad of Al Qeida frogmen with AKs, But it can and will kill you dead as a hammer right NOW if you do your job.

There is a Liveleak video of some ISIS guys having little boys murder prisoners in some old amusement park. These little boys are maybe 5 years old. One had a 25 ACP and pops a guy in the skull. He was insta-dead. That little thing was no joke.

Is there any reference site that I could really identify my Beretta?

“3. Do cops or operators generally rely on mouse gun? Why would you?”

I laugh at the term “operators”. My mom was an operator.
Silly term, better to call yourself a Soldier, Sailor or Marine.

As elcid mentioned that’s a 418, also called the Bantam.

You SHOULD know that if you kill him running away, you will likely be in legal trouble. While I agree with your general proposition, the perp needs to be terminated before he turns and runs away.

There’s a Wikipedia entry on the Beretta 418 with its history.

There is no place for a .25 in my book. I have a 380 that can be hidden in a Speedo.

You'll shoot your eye out.

I always, when carrying, have a small 9mm KelTec which slides right into my front pocket and can be aimed and fired without removing it from the pocket. Not something I really want to ever have to do !!!!! but I like having the option.

I take it you don't mean your jeans pocket.
