Actually, the ability for this emerging technology to destroy lives and reputations is very much newsworthy and that is what was primarily being discussed.
Sometimes this place can be a little quick with the trigger finger.

Agreed. I thought it was incredibly newsworthy as it opens up several pandoras boxes. Child porn, fake celebrity tapes, fake politicians. This is incredibly scary stuff and whatever mod pulled it needs to take off the pull ups and put their big boy pants on.

It can be used for Videos other than porn as well, anytime they want to fake person being caught doing something. And their separate apps which let you change the lips in a video so you can catch someone on tape saying whatever you want to make them say

The more alarming aspect of this technology is in its ability to potentially create fake videos of “hate” crimes. Imaging if they were able to doctor up video of jussie smellitt’s attackers as, say, Freepers?
Or our kids, with Yertle the Turtle, or a supreme court appointee, or The Donald, or Ronaldus Magnus, or...
Some appear to want FReepers to be ignorant of the technology.

I suppose if you were an actor, you could license your image for the use in legitimate films and make money without ever leaving the house. Heck, 55-year old Brad Pitt could license 25-year old Brad Pitt for a role. Or John Wayne. Who knows?
So when the inevitable “Donald Does Ivanka” porn video surfaces in time for the 2020 campaign, we will know it’s a fake.

I’ve been told that digital photos are not allowed as court evidence any more. Guess we know why.
I don’t know if watching porn is destructive, but it is just as boring as watching golf. Both are 1000 times more fun doing it yourself.
