By doing nothing, Pelosi is really signaling to the American people that she is not in control of her own Democratic Party caucus. In this 116th Congress, it is the inmates that are truly running the asylum
The 116th Congress will be one for the record books, but not in a positive way. Sadly, the United States House of Representatives is now controlled by the Democratic Party for the first time in eight years.
The Republicans lost their grip on power for a variety of reasons including their refusal to enact the agenda endorsed by the American people in the 2016 election. As a result, Democrats have the spotlight and the ability to consider horrible ideas such as the “Green New Deal” proposal being floated by 29-year-old socialist superstar U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). She wants to raise the top income tax rate from 37%to 70% to move the country toward zero carbon emissions. If any of her proposals are ever enacted into law, Venezuela here we come!
A large percentage of the population is too drugged, hedonistic and decadent to notice or care. Politics in a democracy reflects the culture.
I looked back a bit in history. The 72 election Nixon won by a landslide but did not win the house. The next 6 years were terrible for the US with the house full of fifth column members culminating with the election of Carter in 76. Not till 80 did things begin to turn IMO.
Consider the Watergate put up scandal by the Dems. Very similar to now. The next 2 years will be a trying time for us with the Media and their commie sympathizers in the Congress. They intend to drive him out and then put his head on a pike. The mechanism is there and we are being myopic if we think this is not going to happen. Notice now, the Turtle is not really supporting Trump on the wall. If he is impeached, the guy is another snake in the Ryan mold. It is not what he says, it is what he does not say. Rubio, Romney, Burr are itching to get him out. He needs 33 to keep him there and I hope they hold but politics has no friends.

And that's just the Federal tax level. There won't be much left after state and local bites out of the remaining 30%!
A walk down memory lane. LOL Yes, we’ve kind of been there before but those folks were not quite the obsessive haters that this new crop is. Combine this with an ever growing field of Democrats who want to take on Trump and things could get really ugly over the next two years. The question is how much of their revolutionary radicalism will America be willing to put up with?
The new Dems will control the purse strings (which the Republicans failed to do) and will demand evermore spending. The problem this poses for them is that we are already running a $22 trillion debt on top of mountains of unfunded liabilities. The only way the Dems will be able to spend more is to tax more, which will retard economic growth and reverse the current state of prosperity. This could get them into trouble.

The warnings of our Founding Fathers came to pass (i.e., once the people find out their votes can be used to raid the nation’s treasury its all over). They tried to tell us but propriety is no match for avarice and greed.
Oh well, it was good while it lasted. The task before us now is to manage the decline as best you can as an individual. Stay safe.

Agree. Mueller’s mission all along has been to gather “evidence” and prep the battlefield for the incoming Dem congress to impeach Trump. He will feed the committees with all they need to impeach Trump. Things are going according to plan for them right now.
There is no such thing as Republican resolve so Trump is far from safe. There are still too many RINOs who would turn on him in a New York minute. They don’t like “outsiders” anymore than Dems do.
So you elected far left congressional reps? I don’t think so.

The President called on is followers to get out and vote so he could maintain house and senate control. While the senate did gain additional members, the math of the states involved would have made it difficult for democrats to gain seats. But the House gained 40 seats. Are you saying the President’s supporters in those changed House districts ignored his plea? Or they observed his plea but pulled the lever for a dem?
So those republican voters clicked the button for a democrat in those districts? C’mon.

Like I said, Congress one beats 74 by a mile on being crazy. Glad you agree with me on that.
I believe we are past the point of no return on the debt. The only question now is how will we go forth with that millstone in place. Only as long as the US is the only game in town. Meanwhile, the dems are trying their best to take the US out. If or when they accomplish that, the bubble bursts and it all comes down. Whoever is in charge will get the blame.
Debt is like taking drugs. Addicts try it, nothing bad seems to happen so they take more. They get hooked and at that point they don’t care to change. That is where we are now. Unfortunately, even if we resolve to sober up, we have a “need” to keep it rolling which has meant affording our debt with low or no interest rates. That is over now too. At the end, we will monitize it by running out more “money” with the end point of hyper inflation.
My advice is buy a wheel barrel.
Speaking of the “Green New Deal”... Do you think A0-C and the rest of the Freshmen DNC funbunch have any idea what is going on in France? Just taking the “Yellow Vest” demonstrations at face-value you’d have to say that it is a wholesale rejection of the international green movement.
Perhaps it is good that the American people are now seeing that the Democrats have become the party of leftist loons who would trample the Bill of Rights in a heartbeat.
