She just left, she got very heated and angry with me. We were debating the state of the economy and the effects on minorities and she started spewing vile curse words and invective on Christmas Day.
Wow. Threw the Christmas cake on the ground. She's 35-years old, works in finance in Morristown, NJ and New York City.
I'm perplexed this holiday season. Now, I just want to stay home and just watch TV or something. Should I bring them over again?
Anyway, Merry Christmas.
I also grew up during the 50s. My father, too, was disgusted by the rise of the left, as he was in a security clearance type of work in DC. His last talk with me hours before he died was a plea to get my brother (literal and figurative) to go back to church, that our society couldn't survive without Christianity.
I'd like to invite any FReeper to participate in the daily AMERICA Prayer Vigil thread where we can post our prayers of intercession for our nation every day right here on FR. There is no discussion or debate on the thread just prayer, praise and music.

I have a couple of retired teachers that live a couple doors from me.
They constantly go on cruises and while they are gone i go over with a new Trump yard sign and put it in a prominent place in their yard.
I’ve heard her scream when they arrive home.
Puts a very large smile on my face.
That’s understandable though. This wasn’t supposed to be an election but a coronation. She got blind-sided.
OK, I'm confused. While the British use the term "floor" to mean not just inside a building but also the lawn and the street, Americans usually say "floor" for the inside of buildings and "ground" for the outside, particularly lawns and gardens (and street, road, etc for paved areas). So when you said "ground", I thought she left the house and you followed her out, whereupon she smashed the cake, perhaps in a cardboard cake box, in the front yard.
But to smash a "glass container" in the house indicates that she baked it herself, possibly in a pyrex baking dish (below), which is pretty hard to break. You'd have to raise it up and heave it forcefully to the floor. Are you telling us this is what happened?
And go where? Seriously, is there any possible place to live other than the U.S.?
Is it possible she had something else going on, like a break-up with a boyfriend, a job loss, or a bereavement that affects her at Christmas?
Oh, yeah; I believe it’s possible (actually “probable” now) to have liberal kids. And I don’t have more than one child; I don’t have even one. As every year passes, I’m thankful I don’t, since there are so many dreadful, unmotivated, rude, disrespectful, lazy ones that I see. They seem to have little or no empathy for anyone beyond their selfish selfs so I wonder/doubt if they’ll be there for their parents during their not-so-golden years.
You mentioned the nursing home: It is so sad! Dad was a minister, so we kids were visiting nursing homes and rescue missions constantly since before we were a year old. Those memories are still there. My husband is a Hospice volunteer and it breaks his heart to visit the facilities of his clients. They aren’t at the stage of imminent passing, and they’re mentally very functional and aware of what’s going on in their lives. One of his guys has a child who lives just 15 miles away, and he never makes an effort to show up. How disgraceful!
Life is interesting, and not always in a good way. :(
Not always but to some extent you get the death you earned.
“Not always but to some extent you get the death you earned.”
I agree with that.
“And go where? Seriously, is there any possible place to live other than the U.S.?”
You might be referring to my posting on the bug-out question, which was a different thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3715147/posts
As to the question: My immigrant wife says flat-out that she’s in no mood to leave, especially since she had to learn English and go through a bunch of other hoops to legally become a citizen. I’ve told her, don’t worry, you’ll want to leave when I tell her it’s time to go. But she has what most non-preppers have, which is normalcy-bias. She cannot imagine the US being anything significantly different than what it is today, so why leave, since the country will never change much? After all, leaders will come and go, but the ideal of the United States will NEVER change.
Or might it change?
When you have the insanity that we see on this thread, in this woman, and then realize that this insanity, sickness, evil, goes right to the top of one of our political parties, and that party now receives the MAJORITY of the votes in the past 3 elections, rather than 10 to 15% of the votes, then it’s time to at least start getting some paperwork moving, which we have done.
Yep, we’re in dangerous waters. Unfortunately, Trump is only a speed bump, I’m afraid.
We must fight in smart ways that keep us under the radar, if possible.
Post of the thread! Ding ding ding ding ding!
Im trying to keep more off the radar to buying certain items with only cash.
That’s smart. Blend in and don’t attract attention and only discuss issues in detail with like minded people. Trust very few people. People with conservative bumper stickers on their cars should take them off. etc, etc, etc.
Youre thinking wrong. It was a poor analysis.
I havent been self righteousness. Bearing false witness is an authentic form of sinfulness.
Take a hike? You approspched me, lol!
No, you inserted yourself into the conversation, now run along.
I’ve just gotten more open and more public in my viewpoint. They cannot an will not suppress me.
(Spoken like an old YAFer, I guess. We used to love getting in liberals’ faces.)
I understand. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten in their faces.
