The White House Decor

First lady Melania Trump unveiled the White House Christmas theme , 'American Treasures'

'This is a joyous time of year when we decorate the White House for the Christmas Season,' the first lady said in a statement. 'Our theme honors the heart and spirit of the American people. Thank you to the many volunteers and staff who worked hard to decorate the halls of the People's House in Christmas cheer. On behalf of my family, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.'

~~Skyline etchings show architecture, which the president loves, and the Chicago one features Trump Tower

~~The official White House Christmas Tree is decorated in 500 feet of blue velvet ribbon embroidered in gold with each state and territory

~~The White House will host more than 100 open houses with more than 30,000 visitors taking public tours. Happily omitted this year the Snarky Media party. Good riddance!

There are several decorative themes that touch on the first family's personal interests.

The White House's Red Room, which is designed to appeal to children, features 'Be Best' ornaments, the first lady's signature initiative, and soccer ball ornaments, likely a nod to Barron Trump's love of the game.

The tree in there is filled with items Barron Trump would love, including the soccer ball ornament and cell phone ornaments. The tree also has ornaments paying tribute to kids' favorite activities, including a skate board, a karate uniform, a film board clapper, cheese pieces, ice skates, books and a baseball glove.

The mantle is covered in white ornaments with Be Best written in red and white, all part of the first lady's signature campaign.

The OFFICIAL White House tree stands just under 20 feet tall. 500 feet of blue velvet ribbon enbroidered in gold with each state and territory.

Holiday candy will be given to some visitors, and the packages each feature Donald and Melania's signature, as well as the same gold engraving of the White House that is on the first family's Christmas card

The Trump International Hotel and Tower in downtown Chicago (top), San Fran Golden Gate Bridge, St. Louis Arch, and NYC(bottom) can be seen in a display of the city's skyline, which is situated in the East Room of the White House

The 2018 Christmas Card

The official White House Christmas card features the signatures of the president, first lady and Barron Trump, just as it did last year, however this year's version includes an engraving of the White House, instead of the Presidential seal like last year's

The White House Creche – for 51st year on display

The famous gingerbread White House used 225# of gingerbread. The display this year has been widened to include the full expanse of the Naitonal Mall, The Capitor, The Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Memorial and the White House

Inside the China Room are three tables, all replicas from previous state dinners using pieces from the White House permanent collection, highlighting the Theodore Roosevelt Administration, John Kennedy Administration, and Donald Trump Administration

Barron's Special Guest
WH Reception (12-11-18)

Barron Trump doesn't make many public appearances, but he was more than happy to turn out for the White House Christmas Party on Sunday night.

That's because the soccer-loving 12-year-old got the chance to meet one of his heroes - legendary English player Wayne Rooney.

Donald Trump's youngest son was all smiles as he took photos with Rooney, who arrived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with his wife Coleen and their four sons.

Rooney and his family were reportedly personally invited by the president to the party, which was also attended by Ivanka and Vanessa Trump and their children.

Rooney, Coleen, and their sons Kai, nine, Klay, five, Kit, two, and nine-month-old Cass were given a tour of Trump's private quarters.

Rooney, 33, and his family recently moved to Washington DC after he received a $13million two-and-half year contract with DC United in July and decided to leave the Premier League team Everton - and his life in England - behind.

Thank you for the awesome picture collection. I am especially happy to learn that Barron had a good time at a White House Christmas party which included the pro soccer player and his family on the guest list.

Love the fantastic decorations especially the unusual city skylines. So much fun to see these on Free Republic too.

A few housekeeping notes/This & That

1) Thank you for maintaining the civility present on this thread. Anytime I venture to other threads there is just too much bickering and annomosity. So sad. I will trust you will continue to help new comers feel the spirit we encourage and help those who need an attitude adjustment

2) Keywords. Please add. Mine are rather boring. LOL. If you are a lurker and not on our ping list you will find this a nice way to easily find the thread. We only had one instance of someone adding keywords in 2 years. And they were not nice ones. I am pretty sure I know who it was as most of them were pretty hateful directed toward me. He hasn't posted with us but on other threads is a rude presence much too often

- IMPORTANT – keep your size width between 400-600. Smaller than 400 is very hard for those with just cell phones. Large ones become problematic as they spread the board. We have a few who are posting VERY large images and I have gotten a few complaints.. Just regarding size – not content.

Different people do size differently.

This is how I do it. (reverse the >)

Not sure anyone else got back to you. My life is a “bit complicated” the past year or so and I do NOT get as much time to thoroughly digest the thread. When I scan the thread for pix for the new thread I mostly scan for pix

Im going to post this on my FB page. I am glad you added your signature. I did a LOT of photo work when I had access to and use of my iMac 24. Lots of good programs and I always stressed it was important to sign your projects.

Now over the years my “stuff” would show up with others taking credit. Easy to change the signature unless you do a huge watermark.
