NEW YORK -- Joan Steinbrenner, the wife of late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, died Friday. She was 83.
The Yankees said she died while surrounded by family at her home in Tampa, Florida.
Joan Steinbrenner held the title of Yankees vice chair.

She was a classy lady and wore a brooch, that said NY YANKEES...ALL in diamonds and rubies...so beautiful..she shared her recipes with me, and I still have her BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES, recipe...
While she was under the dryer I told her I would copy it...she said..’OH NO DEAR CHILD, KEEP IT, MY BAKING DAYS ARE DONE.’
I have such wonderful memories of my working days..loved every day I worked, and it lasted 42 years...Life is Good...
