George H.W. Bush, the 41st U.S. president and father of the 43rd president George W. Bush, died on November 30, 2018, at the age of 94. He passed away less than eight months after his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush, died at the age of 92.
The former president will lie in state in U.S. Capitol from Monday to Wednesday. There will be a state funeral for George H.W. Bush on Wednesday at the Washington National Cathedral, and a memorial service for the former president will be held on Thursday in Houston. He will be laid to rest at George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center in College Station, Texas.
George H.W. Bush was born into an exceptionally privileged, wealthy, and influential familyand was undoubtedly the patriarch of the modern Bush political dynasty. His eldest son, George W. Bush, was the governor of Texas and a two-term U.S. president. His second son, Jeb Bush, was the governor of Florida for eight years. And his grandson, George P. Bush, has served as Texas land commissioner since 2015.
The Bushes are the epitome of old moneytheir wealth stretches back generations, and they are rich, but never flashy. George H.W. Bushs wife Barbara famously wore fake pearls and $29 shoes to George H.W. Bushs inaugural ball in 1989. The two were married in 1945, and were celebrated for being dedicated to each other and their ever-expanding family no matter where life took them, including Texas, the White House, and their family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Barbara and George H.W. Bush were married for 73 years. She passed away on April 17, and was laid to rest at her husbands presidential library in Texas....

“Prescott Bush, HWs father, who was a Senator from Connecticut in the 50s.”
Others here have posted that PB didn’t have a problem Nazis. Don’t know if it’s true.
He probably means that voters choose “cool” over heroes when they vote now. Since obama, the military heroes have been scorned.
And the first line in an article a couple days ago had to throw in the word, “Patrician” , as though we have aristocrats in America.
I knew they did well financially, but they never seemed to flaunt it or look down on others who weren’t well off.
[T]here is no suggestion that Prescott Bush was sympathetic to the Nazi cause, the documents reveal that the firm he worked for, Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), acted as a US base for the German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, who helped finance Hitler in the 1930s before falling out with him at the end of the decade.
I wouldn’t take that one little paragraph to the bank with the mountains of evidence that prove otherwise.

Amazing how you totally ignore the information here.

“The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.
His business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.”
GEE, evidence in the National Archives, let’s just ignore it shall we, says the low information American.
24 posts before the truth
I read several Bush bios when younger.
His moms family had money before including a southern branch of old old money
But Bush had to strike out in his own in the oil biz
Did he have better access to capital yes but was he a mailbox money kid
No
You can count on bull to be written about anyone but a lefty
Thats because yankees know best
Its ironic though because Bush mom had a southern branch deep in antebellum lore
For what its worth Im from Mississippi and multi generational Texans appreciate that Im southern and like a cousin or something
But Im not Texan
Thats the real division
I had a freeper here a zillion years back argue with me that the Lone Star flag bore no relation to the Bonnie Blue despite reams of evidence that it was most certainly appropriated even in earlier versions before the end result
I didnt know if it was because she was a a Yankee as you alluded to earlier and liked to think Texan is not southern or if she was Texan and wanted it to be one hundred percent original Texan
Or both
Texas is different ...its southern no doubt.
I hear more southern dialect from whites in north Dallas than I do in tony parts of Nashville today and if you cross from Clayton to Texline or Dumas or Dalhart you hear southern spoken and sweet tea offered in courteous contrast
But they are still Texans above all else
If I could only choose one state it would be Texas
Sadly their cities are becoming the megopolises folks like Nesbitt warned about in the 70s
Unlivable to me and dangerous if the power goes out over a few days
Still its a big place
Its just lacks a good beach.
Texas is going Latino....thats the issue
The excerpt I posted is from the Guardian article.
It’s a long article with more damning information than not but you go right ahead and make excuses for him and the whole Bush cabal all you want but they will go down. The only reason they haven’t been exposed for everything they have done is the same reason the Clinton’s have gotten away with things. Money, power, blackmail, murder, payoffs, ect., all the usual deep state mafia tactics. Who do you suppose they will ice after Poppy to try and delay what’s coming? Maybe Jimmah? That will buy them another five days or so.
You make the claim, You back it up.
Freeping 101.
I can lead a jackass to water but I can make them drink.
Oops CAN’T make the jackass drink.
Barbara Bush was also a 4th cousin of President Franklin Pierce. Not that that means much but being related to 3 former Presidents has got to be rare.
i read somewhere via an FR post (I think ...) that George Washington was far and away the wealthiest. Made sense in some ways.
But did not investigate the calculations.
which then evolved into his forming his own oil company.

We visited LeTourneau University (in Longview, TX) about 14 years ago -
They had a video about the school which included a clip of Bush 41 talking about how RG LeTourneau’s invention of the off-shore oil drilling platform (Bush 41’s company was the first customer ever for one of these) resulted in him making so much money that he was later able to go into politics.
Lots of interesting connections ......
GW was double the nearest one. However President Trump blows them all out.
