For what its worth Im from Mississippi and multi generational Texans appreciate that Im southern and like a cousin or something
But Im not Texan
Thats the real division
I had a freeper here a zillion years back argue with me that the Lone Star flag bore no relation to the Bonnie Blue despite reams of evidence that it was most certainly appropriated even in earlier versions before the end result
I didnt know if it was because she was a a Yankee as you alluded to earlier and liked to think Texan is not southern or if she was Texan and wanted it to be one hundred percent original Texan
Or both
Texas is different ...its southern no doubt.
I hear more southern dialect from whites in north Dallas than I do in tony parts of Nashville today and if you cross from Clayton to Texline or Dumas or Dalhart you hear southern spoken and sweet tea offered in courteous contrast
But they are still Texans above all else
If I could only choose one state it would be Texas
Sadly their cities are becoming the megopolises folks like Nesbitt warned about in the 70s
Unlivable to me and dangerous if the power goes out over a few days
Still its a big place
Its just lacks a good beach.
Texas is going Latino....thats the issue
Most latinos who are proud to be americans are more Texan conservative than the Californicating asshole grifters infesting Austin, Dallas, AMARILLO, Houston and the Hill Country....... I really support legal immigration as much as I support shooting “anyone” crossing our borders illegally ...... (but you know that) .
Agree with ya as usual Wardaddy ....... hope all is well with you and your beautiful wife and family.
Stay Safe !
