The New York Times released a 10-minute video last month entitled “How Capitalism Ruined China’s Health Care System.” The video attempts to blame capitalism for the many problems in China’s health care system.
“Under Mao Zedong the Communist state provided free health care for all,” the narrator tells us. “Decades later China adopted a unique brand of capitalism that transformed the country from a poor farming nation into an economic superpower. Life expectancy soared. But the introduction of capitalism and the retreat of the state meant that health care was no longer free.”
As a resident of China and a recipient of outstanding private health care here, I was confused as to why the Times would show us the horrors of a capitalist system without actually visiting a private health care facility.

Journalists are demonstrably either the most naive or the most stupid group of folks on the planet.
Ah, Potemkin hospitals. (Wonder how many of the younger ones would have to look that name up.)
You know, we have to start acting that journalists are as much as enemy as any foreign country.
And treat them accordingly.
They also said how great Cuba’s health care is; which is why I guess Castro went to Spain for some health problems.
After the civil war Capitalism got us through industrialization, the emergence of high tech, the creation of a good standard of living that saw all boats rise (our “poor” are the least poor poor on the planet) without gulags, forced labor camps (our slavery was agrarian, not industrial), government caused famines and numerable other blessings of socialism.
The angst and condescension of socialistic Leftist is like some proverbial pimp or rapists standing in judgment over a virgin bride for her being willing to have sex after marriage.
Yeah because it was so good under communism of yore, where everyone got little to no healthcare. But it was free for all, or is that a free-for-all? Of well, does it really matter to the lying fake news of America? I think not.
Id love to see these commies the next time they get sick go to Venezuela, Cuba, or China for their treatment..see how long they last before they BEG to come back to America

During the Soviet era the Useful Idiots among the media endlessly pandered about the glories of socialism even as they understood more of what was really going on than the rest of us. The Fake News that was Fake News was Fake News long, long before Trump ever came on the scene. They were a 5th Column. They still are a 5th Column unthinkingly serving any who would seek to destroy us simply because those, like the Muslim Brotherhood or the proverbial Gaystapo, can get them to view them as victims.
Now the DNC and way too much of the media ARE the very people the anticommunists of old were fighting to prevent. There is nothing remaining of the old extreme Left that’s extreme to them anymore.

China has fewer doctors per capita than the US does even.

I’ve spent much time living in China. I’ve rarely heard anyone here complain about health care, other than long line when you go to the doctor. Costs are much lower than the USA.

So the NYT claimed that after the intro of capitalism on a limited basis, life expectancy soared...and that is an argument “for” communism/socialism?

Excellent. From now on we give the option to any and all socialists to go to china, Venezuela, or cuba for health care.
Absolute insanity. Mao killed around 60 million people. Tortured millions more. If you criticized the government you got re-educated. I am sure things were so much better then. At least you said they were better or else.

Before capitalism, the hospitals didn’t have to deal with sickness because people starved first.
