Money quote:

Somewhere along the line, the rock-concert crowds and record-setting fundraising and JFK comparisons obscured a basic contradiction between Beto O’Rourke the national heartthrob and Beto O’Rourke the Texas heretic. While the coastal media’s narrative emphasized his appeals to common ground, framing him as an Obamaesque post-partisan figure, the candidate himself tacked unapologetically leftward. He endorsed Bernie Sanders’ "Medicare for all" plan. He called repeatedly for President Donald Trump’s impeachment—a position rejected by Nancy Pelosi, and nearly every other prominent Democrat in America, as futile and counterproductive. He flirted with the idea of abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He took these positions, and others, with a brash fearlessness that reinforced his superstardom in the eyes of the Democratic base nationwide. But it likely stunted his growth among a more important demographic: Texans.

RobertBeto kept Left because he realized he has become another Obamaesque figure who is prepping for a 2020 run. Once he decided that he had to stay Left.

I hope Hurd didn't let him drive. He's Kennedyesque when it comes to boozed up driving and post-accident getaways.

framing him as an Obamaesque post-partisan figure

There was absolutely NOTHING post-partisan about Barry Soetoro, the communist democRAT Party hack. Likewise, nothing post-partisan about Robert Francis O'Rourke, another communist democRAT Party hack.

This is written by Politico. No Republican in their right mind would even consider trading in Ted Cruz for someone as liberal as the worst demoncrap in Washington.

What’s with the name BETO, is that a way to trick Hispanics into thinking he’s Hispanic? BETO short for ROBERTO?

The young people get excited when a "hip" candidate comes along that speaks their language.

Back when I was 22, all hearts were a-flutter over Gary Hart (1984). He was speaking to us young people and was primed to be the first yuppie president (in fact the word yuppie was first coined during his campaign). He was the "Big Chill" candidate who was going to change everything.

For a while, it seemed that Hart was going to beat out Mondale for the nomination but he was really being primed for the 1988 race (as nobody was going to beat Reagan that year).

We all know what happened next. Donna Rice and the "Monkey Business". Such a scandal at the time. Had Gary Hart waited 10 more years, nobody would have cared. His timing was bad.

The problem is, that the “LEFT” won’t win him the White House... Just like it can’t win him Texas....

Know your history... Other than Obama, which was the high watermark for Identity Politics... You have to go back to FDR to find a Democrat who won the White House with more than 51% of the vote, and NONE of them, Obama included, did so by running as an unapologetic leftist.

On 60 Minutes last night, they showed a Clip of POTUS Trump talking about Beto at a Rally.

They made a point of correcting Trump's pronunciation of “Beto”. They are all in for Beto and it showed.

For Hurd, a pragmatic, swing-district moderate with numerous Democrats employed on his staff,

Please don’t associate this individual with the Republican Party. He is the ultimate RINO.

If they thought Ted was beatable, they should have run someone of substance. All Beto had going for him was that he was young and allegedly “cool”. His campaign ads didn’t say diddly about anything.
