Canada gets their Spam from Austin, Minnesota (also known as "Spam Town USA").

It may be very popular in Hawaii, but I never cared for it. Give me real ham, and keep the Spam. But Spam has helped a lot of people eat better than they would have if Hormel had not created the product back in 1937. It also fed the Russian military in WWII. Nikita Khrushchev declared: "Without Spam we wouldn't have been able to feed our army".

It only took 22 years, 1959, for the billionth can of Spam to sell. By 2007, 7 billion had been sold.

I’ve been inside Hormel’s Austin, Minnesota plant. Its an interesting place.

Around the backside there is a three foot high fence topped with infiltration wire. Looks like a piggie Auschwitz.

They pipe in Classical music on certain sections of the production line to keep the pigs calm. Other sections have electrified floors to keep them moving along.

Nothing goes to waste. It all comes out as saleable product in one form or another; Spam, plastics, glue, etc.

I’m sure you made an interesting and informative post but I can’t read it because my spam filter keeps blocking it for some reason.
