The weird thing... I HAVE noticed numerous "conservatives" like Mike Pence and Dick Cheney have nothing but fawning praise for this musical. Have any conservative FReepers actually seen this musical, and can you tell what the heck is so great about it that makes it worth seeing a liberal Puerto Rican rapper play the historic figure of Alexander Hamilton? Seems to me conservatives would normally hate this kind of revisionist history from Hollywood liberals who want to change things so it fits with their narrative an ideal America. I don't see anyone fawning over them having the redheaded Little Orphan Annie played by a black girl and revising the story so she loves FDR's New Deal.

What’s the big deal? I mean George Hamilton was dark, right? Didn’t he always go tanning?

She says she won't talk to me until I check out the show for myself instead of "pre-judging it" - promises, promises.......

It must be somehow related to establishment conservatives fawn over Hamilton as a greater than George Washington as AH was the proginitor of crony capitalism.

More strange are all the libs drooling over this ridiculous parody. Hamilton is the guy who despised the average man, called the people a ‘Great Beast’ Wanted the president to serve for life (inspiring many turd world leaders, I suppose). He also wanted state governors appointed by the President and have veto power over any state legislative action. He also was a big proponent of ‘National Grandeur’ which meant an aggressive foreign policy and a big army. Hamilton definitely believed that the mass of the population could be permanently duped with organized distraction and his National Grandeur circus. In short AH wanted the new USA to be Great Britain with real teeth.
Since Hamilton's various economic schemes were at the heart of his significance does this musical make even a reference to them?

I haven’t seen it but everything I know about it I find offensive. Hamilton, for all his faults (mainly undermining the Adams administration) is the grandfather of American conservatism, I am disturbed that some Broadway fruitcake has appropriated him.

It may very well be “good” and less offensive than it appears on the surface. I wouldn’t know and am unlikely to find out unless someone puts a good recording up on youtube.

Pence’s comments about the booing, telling his kids some bs like “This is what democracy sounds like”, lowered my opinion of Pence, unless he meant it as a criticism of democracy (which he didn’t). I’m worried Pence is still living in 2015 with all it’s boilerplate niceties.

It is seductive propaganda to a right that is overeager to be seen as cool and hip.

The destruction aimed at Thomas Jefferson, etc., just somehow gets dismissed as collateral damage, I guess.
