A few observations from a former bomb disposal officer (i.e. Me):
1. Proper pipe bombs don't have wires connected to both ends. That's dumb.
2. You can find timers / remote control receivers WAY smaller than whatever that white box is. A proper timer would best be stored inside the pipe, making it fully encapsulated. That thing is just silly looking.
3. "Hoax Devices" are FAR more common than real ones. In which case, we should ask ourselves what the motives of the "bomber" are and "who benefits?" Go ahead. Think deeply and critically.
4. Bottom Line: Whoever made that wanted it to be painfully obvious to anyone and everyone that it's a "bomb."
This is nearly the same as a bundle of road flares wrapped together with an old-timey alarm clock ticking away.
Because they knew to expect it, opened it themselves.
Note uncanceled stamps as another poster noted above.

What, you calculated the exact time it would take the UPS to deliver the package, then the time it would take the target to open the package, and then 10 seconds after that????

I get plenty of odd-sized mail with uncanceled stamps. Primarily it is large junk mail with old numismatic stamps which sell for less than face value. Those junk mailers use those kind of stamps to save a little money. They are almost always uncanceled.
It’s heavier than 13 ounces.

Heck, I can mail four letters to four different people, all living in the same town, and normally have them arrive on different days.
These packages were undoubtedly sent through the mail to the destinations, not delivered some other way. Someone might have expected it or be in the know at CNN. But the Secret Service isn’t going to lie about the origin of the presidential / first lady packages.

Bulk mail stamps are precancelled. Cannot be used if you’re not a bulk mailer.
These are first class stamps. There’s not enough of them and they would have been cancelled.
The packages that arrived for former POTUS Obama and first lady Clinton came in the mail, according to the Secret Service. It’s likely all the packages came in the mail. But it is possible the CNN is a one-off for the cameras and didn’t come in the mail.
1. Sending 5 or 10 packages is not bulk mail. 2. The old numismatic stamps (mainly 50’s, 60’s, 70’s commemoratives) are not precanceled. I get those quite often on large envelope junk mail.
I can't ever remember seeing uncanceled stamps on any USPS mail in my six decades.

If you can actually read some of what is posted here, you will find arguments with good, solid basis against your thesis, notwithstanding several reports of “hand delivery” of said bombs.
An operation designed to sow discord, if not panic, right before a national US election. Who have we been recently told would, and is, attempting such operations?
China.
Rissia.
Iran.
My bet’s on Iran. They may find footage of the guy, but he’s long gone. And no fingerprints or traceability will be found.
It's possible the CNN package is a one-off for the cameras. But the packages intercepted by the SS are real, according to the SS. They might be different, but they were sent through the mail from someone else.
That said, the whole thing, all the packages, look like a deliberate "intimidation" campaign. That will be the fake news meme and they will blame Trump.
This was all designed for no other purpose except to get the truly idiotic news media raving on about something other than the “caravan” coming to our border. That was turning into a giant loser for them and they needed any excuse to breathlessly rage on about something else.
This is monumentally stupid.
“Hand delivery” won’t mean very much if this is just a hoax bomb campaign. In that case it is all for show and doesn’t matter how they are delivered. That said, the SS says the former POTUS and former first lady packages came in the mail. I am inclined to believe the SS was not duped by some sort of hand delivery.
