VANITY: Liberal college pal going nuts about Kavanaugh asks the following...
Self ^ | 10-9-18 | Self

Posted on 10/09/2018 2:00:51 PM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

So I've been thoroughly enjoying the Total Meltdown amongst the Left. I have some college pals who are Northeastern liberals and they're going totally apesh*t about Brett Kavanaugh having been confirmed as SCOTUS Associate Justice.

One of them (who is a total blowhard yet I'm friends with him because we have like 50 mutual friends and have known each other since 1985) asks the following question: "Serious question for my RW friends: What are your top 3 cases you’d like to see the court hear and what result are you hoping for? Adult-type responses only....all others will be deleted."

I have not answered because I'm afraid that he'll hate my adult-type responses and they'll just make way too much sense. In true FR Fashion, I'd like your input to make this as fun and hilarious as possible. He's an a**.

Thanks!

Kelo, which changed the eminent domain law by recognizing the economic growth of some private redevelopment plans as a permissible “public use” under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment.

I see a lot of “Kelo” in this thread. I agree that Kelo was wrongly decided and a terrible decision. However, Kelo has been largely gutted via legislation.

In the aftermath of Kelo, 45 States have either passed legislation or a Constitutional Amendment restricting eminent domain at the State level. In the remaining 5, three of those States had Court decisions that limited the taking of private property.

No other SCOTUS decision has ever generated as much immediate legislation and activity to counter its effect.

The way the loonies were attacking Brett they would have us believe that he and he alone was running the court.

I thought his remarks at the White House event were great about the Court not being partisans on either side of an aisle but being a team of nine who decide as a team, and that he would be a team player.

That’s why I’d like to limit it to Washington D.C.

1. Approve the FEMA death camps and detention centers.
2. Allow UPS to out source its delivery services to India.
3. Confirm a man’s right to veto an abortion of his unborn child.

“he did agree that obamacare was presented correctly to Congress as part of tax law.”

Obamacare was a violation of the origination clause. It was never taken back to the house to be reconciled and was written by the Senate and deemed passed.

Roberts in his ruling, rewrote the law to make it a tax and therefore THAT violated the origination clause.

ONLY THE HOUSE OF REPS can write such laws and the Senate can try to add to them in its chambers, then, the law has to go back to the house to be reconciled and passed.

People can argue whatever they want about that piece of shit legislation, but it was in strict violation of the constitution.

Overturn "Griggs v. Duke Power Co.(1971)"

It was this decision where the Supremes said that any test, used for hiring or promotion, which had fewer people from "protected classes" passing than white people, was inherently discriminatory. It was this case which started the explosion in college credentials as a substitute.

Overturn THIS, and you collapse the academic industry. Instead of requiring a college degree, people could just take standardized tests (like the SAT reading, writing, and math tests) and employers could use those test results to see if an applicant was sufficiently literate to make it in the job.

I would like to see the “precedents” of Roe and Obergefell treated like Dred Scott and Plessy vs. Ferguson!!!!

Keep in mind that it took a very bloody civil war to overturn Dred Scott.

3. Confirm a man’s right to veto an abortion of his unborn child.

I'd like to see a man have the right to BUY custody of his unborn child (as a way to incentivize the mother to carry to term), but otherwise have no obligation to pay child support.

It’s easier than that...

If you believe an allegation of sexual crime with no corroboration is enough to deny, how do you explain voting for a woman who was married to a serial predator accused or flat out rape and she her herself accused of threatening and intimidating his victims into silence?

Tell him
1) Make abortion decisions a States Right only.
2) Make Voter ID the law of the land.
3) Uphold immigration standards from BEFORE Ted Kennedy got his hands on it.
(If you’re going to make him mad, anyway, you may as well do it up right)

Anchor babies, especially illegals who come here intentionally to have their baby in the US so it will have American citizenship.

Eminent domain for confiscating private property for business enterprises, hard to argue it's for the common good because I doubt the locals benefit much, more for the city/county officials, business executives, stockholders. Some new jobs. I guess I know too many people who have been badly hurt by it even though compensated.

An old local grower of primarily tomatoes and sweet corn, a few other vegetables, creek bottomland in the city, had a big slice of his condemned fo join up sections of a bicycle path. He's gone now, but last I knew he would never cash the check(s). A Lebanese immigrant who never married.

Maybe it was more the invasion of his privacy so close to his house and just plain a major annoyance to him, don't know.
