Vanity: Amazon's The Man in the High Castle Season 3

ONE MINOR AND VAGUE SPOILER ALERT

Not having a television was meant to be a discipline to force me to limit my watching to good DVDs and suitable streaming content. Over the years the streams got cheaper and better, and I was already a member of Amazon Prime, so I decided to try “The Man in the High Castle”, as I found the premise intriguing.

Despite occasional profanity and explicit bedroom material, and one stupid episode in Season 2 (“The Nazis on LSD” episode), I stuck with it, and even read the book. I had thought that the producers, directors and writers did a solid job of fleshing out Phillip K. Dick’s ideas, without violating the spirit of the original story. The series had been tighter and the subplots mostly well-thought-out, and the actress who plays Julianna was perfect for the part, as both the book version and the series version needed a woman who could adapt to any situation and be appealing in any role.

I also figured that the number of sub-plots was getting out of control, and season 3 would be a great time to bring it all together and wrap it up.

I will not find out if it gets wrapped up because I have stopped watching as of halfway through episode 4.

What ruined it? It wasn’t the “peacenik” implications in the current billboard campaign. The “resistance” against the Nazis and the Japanese Empire was well-established in the storyline before Trump’s election, and bears no resemblance to the crazies on the left here.

The series was ruined because no one is willing to make a dramatic series without bringing on-screen homosexual activity into the mix. Of course, the major character who turns out to be a pervert is one who is otherwise extremely virtuous and sympathetic. Once it was clear that there was going to be guy kissing on screen, the show goes off, and is staying off.

My inclination to avoid new programming has now been reinforced. No more Amazon originals.

Same here.

My favorite show, “The Last Ship”, surrendered to the immortal culture and political correctness of the left by introducing a Lesbo couple this season.

Erased all my recordings of the show and banished the show from the house.

As far as Dick’s books I didn’t like this one that much.

I’m looking forward to High Castle.

Alternative history and the like has always appealed to me.

I ff through the drawn out parts though.

Meh I’m not such a snowflake that I turn off shows because of one thing I may find distasteful. For crying out loud it is a show taking place in a dystopian world. I think I can deal.

I’m looking forward to this season because MITHC is the only alternative history show out there, and I really want to see how they play the scenario out.

I’m just more afraid that they will get too sci-fy-y and go the way of Sliders. it just invites lazy writing.

First, no regular guy from a generation ago would have put up with having guys kissing on screen. John Wayne would have likely shot his set, and he is no snowflake.

I decide what comes onto my computer screen, and that doesn't make the cut.

"One thing" can mess up the flow of an otherwise interesting story. This was one of those things. I have standards. TMITHC no longer meets those standards.

Me too.

Watched two episodes and could not get into a show where the US lost and was subsumed by our enemies. (that was obama’s dream.....and apparently the dream of Amazon producers)

I detest Hollywood’s gratuitous inclusion of homosexuality with its products. That, along with any of its other PC obsessions, automatically ends my purchase/support of those entertainment product containing such.

I refuse to condone these perversions through “tolerance”. That compromise is what brought us to the point of cultural war.

Though it is disappointing to have less selection of decent new productions, at least there is a huge availability of older entertainment. With books, music, old time radio, DVDs, streaming video, and more; the entertainment industry will never again hold me hostage to its whims.

The Man In The High Castle will not count me among its viewers.

Full of gay stuff of both kinds(which adds nothing to the story line), Libs destroying historical items, year ZERO where it all starts anew. Watched all 10 and was less enthused than the previous two seasons. Not sure if I care there’s a 4th or not.

If you appreciate Philip Dick’s writing, then you’ve Got to see this series of 10 episodes.
They were better than Black Mirror

Try the one and only season of “Last Resort.” Can’t find all the seasons of “The Last ship” yet.

Ok? Great!

They put up with working with them, like that Rock Hudson dude and John Wayne in the Undefeated, so I at least can exercise my ability to hit skip at that part, and not miss out on the 99.9% of the show that likely has nothing to do with that.

Not like I’m even paying Amazon to watch it. LOL!

You just don’t appreciate all the wonderful “out”reach, hater /s

EVERYTHING IS GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN...
I actually remember Beverly LaHaye, and Phylis Schaffly warning about this 31 years ago -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_social_movements

The Overhauling of Straight America”Edit

A 1987 essay titled “The Overhauling of Straight America”, by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen (writing as Erastes Pill),[70] lays out a six-point plan for a campaign, which was first published in Guide magazine. They argued that gays must portray themselves in a positive way to straight America, and that the main aim of making homosexuality acceptable could be achieved by getting Americans “to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders”. Then “your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won”. The pair developed their argument in the 1989 book ”After the Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the ’90s.” The book outlined a public relations strategy for the LGBT movement. It argues that after the gay liberation phase of the 1970s and 1980s, gay rights groups should adopt more professional public relations techniques to convey their message. After its publication Kirk appeared in the pages of Newsweek, Time and The Washington Post. The book is often critically described by social conservatives such as Focus on the Family as important to the success of the LGBT Movement in the 90’s and as part of an alleged “homosexual agenda”.[71]

Warrenton “War Conference”Edit

A “War Conference” of 200 gay leaders was held in Warrenton, VA in 1988.[72] The closing statement of the conference set out a plan for a media campaign:[73][74]

First, we recommend a nation-wide media campaign to promote a positive image of gays and lesbians. Every —national, state, and local—must accept the responsibility. We must consider the media in every project we undertake. We must, in addition, take every advantage we can to include public service announcements and paid advertisements, and to cultivate reporters and editors of newspapers, radio, and television. To help facilitate this we need national media workshops to train our leaders. And we must encourage our gay and lesbian press to increase coverage of the national process. Our media efforts are fundamental to the full acceptance of us in American life. But they are also a way for us to increase the funding of our movement. A media campaign costs money, but ultimately it may be one of our most successful fund-raising devices.

The statement also called for an annual planning conference “to help set and modify our national agenda.”[74] The Human Rights Campaign lists this event as a milestone in gay history and identifies it as where National Coming Out Day originated.[75]

Rock Hudson and others with his problem were decent enough not to scare the horses. I don't like having to watch movies with my fingers on the pause button. I'd rather watch things that don't require that.

I’m a World War Two buff. I hated that show. The Americans are PC’s and the Nazis have neat uniforms and can’t say anti-semitic things because it violates PC religion. Why would anybody root for a PC America? I thought it was awful.
