Cheap insurance policy................
I have no cameras on the home systems and the office rig points at the ceiling.
My laptop is a company asset and could be subject to review at any time. Needless to say, I’d never hazard having obscene material on it.
I also have a piece of tape on the camera.
A friend is struggling mightily with a porn addiction. It’s affecting many things including his marriage and his kids.
I dont open emails from people I dont know
I have nothing to do with porn, yet I received one of these emails. My ISP placed it in a “bulk” folder, which blocked it from going to my Outlook. I recognized the password used, though. It was from a continuing education website for professional engineers. So these scammers are hacking into other websites to harvest email addresses and passwords. This is then fed into a program to generate the emails. I supposedly owe $7000 in Bitcoin.
BTW, my computer does not have a camera.
Ignore it.
For super extra security, backup your info on a memory stick, then format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of operating system (windows-10 etc). All viruses if any are now dead as a door knob.
Added bonus..your puter will run faster!
Porn is expensive, look how much weiner cost hitlary.
Cash Me Out...
To Old to care.
My guess is that, as with most of this kind of stuff, they are just shooting it out to a lot of people, hoping some were watching pr0n and aer paranoid that it is an authentic email.
There are gullible people of all ages. Old people fall for one kind of scam, men that are viewing this stuff fall for a different scam.
I got that one.
I sent them wife’s email adress. I told them she would love to see the video. She might learn some things.
“The Price of Porn: Its Probably Higher than You Think”
tru dat! prices of the good stuff have gone through the roof!
In the early days of IP video conferencing, nearly every board room was wide open. They did not know that the cameras and microphones on many codecs were on if there was power to the system. The A/V IP networks had not “converged” in to the data IP networks, and the IT staff would not go near the A/V equipment, and thus there was zero security. It was a hoot if you knew the systems. Since board rooms were tightly scheduled and locked, they were a favorite place for an amorous interlude. Many a hilarious peeping was had.
I got one of those threats. It was a shakedown orchestrated by Alexa, Siri, and my Ring doorbell.
