In their great wisdom, the United States Founders created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. Why should one or two densely populated areas speak for the whole of the nation?
The following list of statistics has been making the rounds on the Internet. It should finally put an end to the argument as to why the Electoral College makes sense.
Do share this. It needs to be widely known and understood.
There are 3,141 counties in the United States.
Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.
There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.
Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 2.5 million votes.
In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)
Therefore these 5 counties alone, more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.
These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.
When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.
Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc.) DO NOT and SHOULD NOT speak for the rest of our country!
And...it's been verified and documented that those aforementioned 319 square miles are where the majority of our nations problems foment.
Now please pass this information on. I did.

People vote. Real estate doesn't.

Inaccurate. Hillary won 487 of 3141 counties.... only 15.5%, still a massive concentration of her support.
It does nobody on our side any good to use incorrect numbers.

Another source puts her at 503 (to 2649). The point remains the same, though.

America's government is officially a constitutional federal republic.Simply ask yourself this...what establishes the federal aspect of which you speak?
It all evolves from the Constitution and is laid out within the Constitution.

All else is true.
I had no conflict with the remainder of your reply.

There is no longer a check and balance between the House and Senate...There is no longer a check and balance between the Federal government and State governments. (the true function of the Senate)
Ask a Senator how he likes being nothing more than a glorified member of the House and watch them implode!
The 17th does need to be repealed, right along with the 16th.

Yes, I errored in the use of a pronoun.
I forgot to change "you" to "they" after I first started typing having noticed you were paraphrasing what the left side thinks. Sorry about that.
But your response was actually pretty funny. Being so defensive, and over-the-top simply because of a type-o.
"horrible comprehension... petantic dick"
I laughed. But I also have received like responses to comments I made having quoting from someone else but treated as if I made the quote. Hey, it happens.
Be that as it may... my "pedantic dick" response I hope, at the least, you found agreeable rather than thinking I was being a bit brash in style. What can I say, I'm an old fart.
Have a nice day guy ;)

Well that makes two of us.
Maybe my inner Trump coming out. I'm sorry I called you that.
All else you wrote was actually spot on.

Perfectly understandable, and no worries.
I appreciate your passion. Sometimes it gets away from us in a personal way.
