The rescue mission began after rain showers soaked the Tham Luang Cave area in northern Chiang Rai province for the past 24 hours, heightening the risks in what the governor has called a war with water and time to save the team....
Weather.com forecast sustained thunderstorms lasting through Sunday and Monday, with further stormy weather expected for around the next two weeks....
To escape, the children must dive through dark, narrow passageways sometimes no more than two-feet wide, that have challenged some of the worlds leading cave divers. A former member of Thailands SEAL unit died during a dive on Thursday night.... ADDED: More information, with excellent graphics at BBC:

AND: "At least two of a group of boys trapped inside a cave in northern Thailand for two weeks have been been successfully brought out, reports say." Wonderful!!

Moments ago, President @realDonaldTrump tweeted: "The U.S. is working very closely with the Government of Thailand to help get all of the children out of the cave and to safety."
Fox News, first 4 boys rescued.
May God guide, protect and bless them all. May this effort bring them all out safely.
Why did they go in that cave to begin with?
I don’ have a clue. But am praying for safe extraction of all of them. Already one diver has been lost.
Leave the coach in there...

Yes.
Prayers up.
They were just exploring in the cave when torrential rains flooded the exits and created numerous pools of standing water blocking their exit.
“Why did they go in that cave to begin with?”
I think to escape a storm. And then the water continued rising and driving them further back into the cave.
May God deliver them out of this situation safely.
Thanks for info.
Thanks.
You’re welcome.
The other story I’ve heard is they were exploring the cave and then the storm blew in thus flooding them in. Not sure which is right.
“Today is D-Day”
Ah, media. Never one to not try to exploit words for ratings.
D-day= the largest naval invasion in the history of mankind.
Alternative headline: “Rescue Efforts Intensify For Trapped Children”.
Latest: 4 out, 8 to go.
The “media” are immature and childish. They constantly make fools of themselves...and they’re too stupid to know it.
The term D-Day is used in any military-style operation planning where actions have to be coordinated and timed in a sequence. The precise day (D-Day) and hour (H-Hour) does not need to be fixed in order to plan the operation but once it is fixed the countdown begins.
Thanks.
D-Day = “Demarcation Day”
The beginning of a planned series of events without a know sure outcome.
BKMRK.
I want them all to get out, too, but they couldn’t have picked a worse time to go spelunking. Monsoon rains at this time of year dump a lot of water every day. Going underground to stay dry makes about as much sense as shooting a hole in your head to keep from bruising your knee.
I got to Vietnam in early July, 50 years ago. I know a little bit about monsoons.
6 Are out now.
