When a mass shooting occurs, some people act as if the guns themselves are responsible rather than the people who use them, Other people respond with the statement: "Guns don't kill people. People do." The statement is true because guns cannot independently affect the operation of the human brain.
The brain is a complex system controlled by the interaction of various chemicals. People use marijuana because it is one of the chemicals .that can affect the operation of the brain. Unfortunately, there is a dark side to marijuana. In addition to creating the sensation of feeling "high", marijuana can cause behavior that kills.
Marijuana has two ways of killing people. Marijuana reduces the brain's ability to detect and respond appropriately to danger such as when driving a car. Sometimes the marijuana user dies from a traffic accident. Sometime the person who dies was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Marijuana is associated with homicidal behavior. Marijuana violence often involves firearms. Some of this violence is due to marijuana's tendency to induce paranoia in some people. Marijuana heightens the sense of fear as it does the other senses.
The sense of smell can play a role in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD]. Police officers who have had a bad experience with drug dealers or marijuana users could become overly fearful if they smell marijuana on someone they are dealing with and be more likely to shoot than they would be otherwise. Government needs to finance research on this possibility.
Do you know the actual definition of a narcotic?
Suspect not.

Yep ...... drain that bank. Hope yer well Larry.
That poster just coughs up comments without thought. Similar to an involuntary burp.
That might not be just weed....some folks dont grow into happy adults from the beav years
I loved being stoned 30-47 years ago and was very happy
Some good weed ...a happy naked girl who loved me reciprocally ....music....by the lake....maybe some 714s
No worries yet really beyond summer jobs and term papers
MN life was damn good
And I was very happy
Still am and I deal with reams of pressure at a high level
I think chronic couch lock smokers get lazy and unambiguous and zoned out yes....no question
Ive been around folks whose daily life is stoned....some can do it but not all...
My life got too busy for it....
But I really detest booze....Ive had to deal with it up close and a daily drunk is far worse than a stoner.....
But drinkers disagree....I know someone well for 35 years who drinks not like crazy every night but he likes to drink heavy weekly have some grade A creativity powder if he runs across it.....flakey translucent bubble gum smelling old school blow.....which I detest as much as I do drunks
Yes there are folks who still binge it on occasion ...
Hell buy a ball or a see if its old school quality and run through half of it and then get disgusted with himself and his adorable wife is giving him serious stink eyed consternation and hell go flush the rest...about a grands worth
Its like a ritual...a 36 hour madness followed by guit and a levaquin worthy sinus infection
We were having biz lunch last week and I told him weed would be legal within five years in all but the most culture conservative states
And I was ok with it
He bristled and said you romanticize weed....remember all the heads in Denver and Portland we knew and how screwed up they are
I had to concede that but it just shows how if folks like a drug they excuse as he does booze....he doesnt excuse cocaine..lol....thats a tall order....hes just always had a thing for it..35 years of intermittent use
I dont use drugs beyond occasional Percocet and cortisone shots and phenergan rarely for sleep
People are funny......I hate booze.....but I like the taste....especially hops or a barn yard Bordeaux
“Can anyone point to one person who marijuana helped to make a better person?
It’s medical, uses in reducing pain and nausea are real and getting a whole lot better all the time. We should be excited about the possibilities.
Unlike manufactured pharmaceuticals, MJ is an all natural, plant-bases drug. We can manipulate its genes. MJ is cheap and easy to grow and the genetic tools are becoming more accessible. In the not too distant future we will have fine-grained control of the genomes and will be able to create and control many aspects of MJ and create many different variations for many different purposes.
We might, for example, be able to get variations that will numb your body in just the right way, without affecting your mind — you won’t be high at all so you can drive and operate heavy machinery. We might be able to identify and suppress the parts that make it potentially addicting or habit forming, or the parts that damage the brain. Specialized strains could make the best pain killers and sleep aids. Anyone who has dealt with a sick relative or friend taking powerful painkillers knows how hard it is to actually stop or control the pain and how easily addictive the current opiods are. There could be potential drugs for high blood pressure, diabetes and many, many other physical and mental illnesses.
Of course, Big Pharma is not going to like it.
.
I thought we were all conservatives and FOR FREEDOM and personal responsibility.
Either legalize a natural plant God put on this earth for us or make all the other recreational drugs that also kill illegal, starting with tobacco and alcohol... Either way works for me.
The only way marijuana can kill you is if a CIA smuggling plane accidentally drops 25 pounds of it on your head.

Oh yes, I knew one person who was a violent cocaine addict, I got him to switch to pot and he became the nicest, tamest teddy bear you could imagine.
Probably saved at least two lives (his own, and whoever he would have eventually killed on the path I took him off of) in the process.
When I was in my early 20’s, I had some friends who started using pot.
They went from bright girls working their way through college, to unemployed college drop outs who were just interested in when they were going to get their next drink, joint, and guy.
MJ prohibition is an increasingly fringe position. Michigan (a Trump state) is leaning towards full legalization this November, and Utah (a Trump state) will likely legalize medical marijuana then as well.
OK (a Trump state) votes on medical mj June 26, 2018. It’s polling well, but it may be hurt by turnout.
Bottom line: States have taken the issue from the fedgov. Just taken it. And Sessions or anyone else in fedgov can’t do squat about it.
The feds csnt do a thing about anti abortion laws either. ??
“Marijuans kills people.”
Hysterical, prohibitionist BS.

In 1990 I was diagnosed with major depression & put on anti-depressants followed a few years later with different cocktails of anti-depressants, benxos & then insomnia meds on top of that because I just got worse over the next 25 years. In January of 2015 I was severely depressed, looking at a life in institutions & more meds.
In early 2015 a dear friend suggested I look into medical marijuana. In February 2015 I started using small amounts of cannabis daily. Thanks be to God in Heaven all my depressions symptoms started to disappear.
By the end of 2015 I was off the anti-depressants.
By the end of 2016 I was off the benzos.
By the end of 2017 I was off the insomnia meds.
Due to a MUCH improved mental state I had the energy to exercise again. Since 2015 I’ve lost 94 lbs of flab & walk a minimum of 3 miles every single day.
I now am able to experience joy & happiness that I couldn’t for 2+ decades all because I used cannabis medicinally. So yeah, cannabis has helped me become a healthy, better person.
With regard to both abortion and mj regulation, fedgov has unconstitutionally usurped powers rightfully belonging to the states.
It takes a real shithead to support fedgov in either of the two cases.
Water Kills People!
I think TEXTING while driving is surpassing even drunk drivers. I have never in my life seen so many people driving like they are drunk swerving all over the road because they are looking at some kind of device. I live in a rural area so you know how the roads are. Almost had a head on collision recently because some stupid person crossed halfway over on my side. Fortunately at the last minute they looked up and corrected after almost giving me a heart attack.
Assuming, chuckles aside, that this article is not comedy or satire, youve never actually smoked marijuana, have you?
