Poll: 72 Percent of Voters Approve of North Korea Summit

Almost three-fourths of American voters approve of President Trump’s planned summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

The poll found that 72 percent of voters approve of the summit, compared to just 21 percent who oppose it. 52 percent of voters also approve of the president’s general handling of U.S. policy toward North Korea, and 49 percent have confidence in Trump to handle negotiations with North Korea.

Hopes for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula are not as high, however, with only 20 percent of voters confident the North “will ever give up their nuclear weapons.”

The president said the historic June 12 summit in Singapore is back on after abruptly scrapping the meeting last month in response to “tremendous anger and open hostility” expressed by North Korea. A top North Korean official met with Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week in the Oval Office to discuss details of the summit, and hand-delivered a letter to the president from Kim Jong-un.

Disapproval of Trump’s overall job performance in the poll was at 51 percent, down from 54 percent in April.

Comments

“Despite a slight warming in feelings about the president’s performance, he still gets crushed on personality traits,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll. “Yes, he’s strong and intelligent, but is he a role model for American kids? No way.”

The nationwide poll surveyed surveyed 1,223 voters during the from May 31 to June 5.

I guess the other 21% are the people who watch MSNBC and CNN religiously and read the Nation and the New York Times. How, exactly can you object to a peace summit with the most renegade country on Earth?

“Yes, he’s strong and intelligent, but is he a role model for American kids? No way.”

An unbiased pollster gives you faith in the reliability of the poll results.

But Obama (homosexual/drug use), Bush (drug and alcohol abuse), Clinton (rape, assault, sexual harassment), LBJ (where do I even begin?) or JFK (adultery, comporting with the mob) are role models?

It’s quinnipiac, one of the low life fake news pollsters. They probably skewed it high due to their lib peacenik bias..

I think about a quarter of these dimwits are fearful that North Korea will lose it’s communist luster and became wretched capitalist country, with tourists flocking in, and locals all wearing ‘Make North Korea Great Again’ t-shirts.

I'm not worried about this summit with Trump at the helm, he is not a pushover like the recent appeaser-in-chief was.
NK has nothing to offer while Trump holds all the aces, if not the whole deck.
