Federal Jury Awards 4 Cents to Family of Black Man Killed by Florida Cop

As that famous saying goes, black lives matter, or at least that’s the theory. As a matter of fact, if you come to think about it, all lives matter, not only black lives, that if you want to be consistent with the “don’t be racist, don’t be evil” routine. However, the thing nobody talks about when it comes to the left’s propaganda about blacks getting killed by racist and evil cops in droves is that black in the US commit a disproportionate amount of violent crimes. Also, it’s worth mentioning that blacks get killed mostly by other blacks (gang/drug related violence, read Baltimore, Chicago et al), including black cops, because guess what: in predominantly black neighborhoods, most cops are black, or they patrol in mixed teams (white/black/Asian or whatever) in order to prevent accusations of racism et al when SHTF; you know what I am talking about. Now, speaking of black lives matter, 52 percent of homicides in the US are committed by blacks, despite them being a mere 13 percent of the population.

Could have been $3.50, I suppose.

Last I heard the family of that child were swamped by medical bills they had to pay themselves.

Yeah, if these details are true, the family was wronged.

At least in my opinion.

Still incredible. Drunk in your own home, shooting blind through the garage door? Convenient unloaded gun in back pocket? Any police cams?

Deputy Sheriffs don’t exactly have the same standards of hired police.

No culpability or 65/35 from what I read.

Cops were vindicated over the fact that they >thought< they were at the correct house, never bothered to check to be sure. I hate those video’s where they show cops going through those house to house scenarios to get the bad guy when in real life they constantly mess up and hit the wrong house or people.

I hadn’t thought of that but it’s a good point. Biden is not 100% in the mental health area, no matter what anybody says.

The sad part is that police are no longer “peace keepers.” For the most part, they are trained to be paramilitary aggressors.

LEO’s only investigate crimes after they’ve happened. They do not protect and serve.

Negroes don’t seem to mind being killed by other nonuniformed Negroes. At least they don’t seem to complain about it. They think it isn’t nice when police kill them, though.

Be happy you’re pretty. Someday you’ll complain about never being hit on.

That’s all we expect in my neck of the woods. They’re way more eager to shoot than I’ve ever seen in my life.

‘A little food for thought: the guy is on his own property, and he was even inside his own house when they shot him. They also did not know for sure that nobody else came into the garage after he shut the door, so they could have shot one of the kids for all they know. It seems rash to me, and then to award them $.04 when the man of the family (despite how bad) was killed is pretty sad. I have a huge issue with cops coming on your property and shooting you if you are not directly threatening them. If you say well, they knew he had a gun so they shot through the door. Think about that. So if a cop comes to your house for a call and they know you have a gun (registered weapon) can they then just shoot through the front door or a window because they knew you had a gun??? I am really tired of cops getting to kill people on their own property without any real consequences. Apparently a jury thought otherwise.’

And when they found him, dead, his gun was in his back pocket...So he apparently was not aware of the dyer consequences that were about to be foisted upon him and the gun possibly never left his pocket to begin with...

Agree. Being drunk in the garage of your own property should not carry an instant penalty. Also the jury needs a course in common sense and common decency.

> Drunk, waving a gun, and I assume to be hard of hearing (re: noise complaint) are a deadly combination when a cop is shouting “put down that gun”. What could go wrong! <

Well, that’s one way to look at it. Here’s another. He was suspected of no felony. Let that sink in. He was suspected of no felony.

And he was drinking while on his own property. Which is his right in a free country. And he was in possession of a gun while on his own property. Which is also his right in a free country.

Nevertheless, he was shot down - on his own property - like a dog. Something that could easily happen to you or me. Cops come to your house and you happen to be holding a gun, or a cell phone, or a TV remote. You very well could be shot down like a dog.

But the cops “felt threatened”. So it’s all good. It’s your fault because you - on your own property - were holding a gun, or a cell phone, or a TV remote.

There is nothing so bad that it can’t be made worse by calling the cops. I am a 63 year old white male living in Texas.and I do my best to stay off their radar.
Shoot through a door because they think/know he owns a gun??? Not many houses would safe in this state!

There are many ways to look at the situation and the outcome. I agree you could very well be right.

But remember in this situation he was warned to put down the gun. Put yourself in the cops position. What would you have done?

If you are drunk whether on/off your property, your judgment may be impaired. Being drunk and armed just complicates the situation. And that’s what we have here.

Sorry it is what it is. Drunks and cops kill each other. In this situation it was a standoff and the cop reacted first.

Lastly, in these troubling times stay sober and be prepared to use armed force to protect your property and family if necessary. The days of calling 911 are over unless you live in an urban paradise like Austin. But in rural Texas you see more and more “We don’t call 911” signs posted everywhere.
