The Galil is Israel's answer to the AK47, but a sleeker, more modernized version.
This baby is a cross between the AK47 and an AR15.
This is for the gun enthusiasts that love the robust feel but with the AR reliability and accuracy. Youre getting the best of both worlds.
Many version of Galil has been around since the 50s.
The updated version is a refresh with picatinny rails for optics and lasers to custom with.
The bolt operations has been borrowed from the AK making it more reliable in stress test.
The modernized Galil ACE is based upon the reliable mechanism of the original Galil rifle first developed by IMI in the late 1960's. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Russian AK-47 and the Finnish Valmet RK 62, the IWI Galil ACE has been continuously improved over the last 40 years, resulting in todays extremely reliable and highly accurate Galil ACE.
Improvements made since the original Galil was first developed include:
Charging handle (reciprocating) moved to the left side of the milled steel receiver allowing for weak hand operation
AKM/AK-47 magazine compatibility. (Note that the Galil ACE rifle is assembled in the US from imported and US parts under 18 U.S.C § 922(r). You should only use magazines made in the USA in your Galil ACE rifle.
Youtuber James Reeves takes this Galil Ace .223/5.56 for a spin and goes over a bit of its history. See the full Galil Ace 223 footage here.
Nice, but not for everyone. Though everyone has (and should have) the right to own one.
Me? Ill stick to my Garand and my 1911 and my walnut stocked bolt guns.
Not an inexpensive gun by any stretch.
A friend of mine had one in .308. It was neat, but I can see where it would be specifically for the IDF, and not any other market.
An AK familiarity with US-supplied ammo. It also allowed the patrols throughout the west bank / Gaza strip area to look more familiar to the residents. An IDF soldier looks like he’s from another planet when walking around those areas. By putting some wood on his gun and a shemagh instead of a balaclava he looks like one of the muslims instead of a ripe target Jew.
Thats fine. For these guys in Israel and our guys in the sandbox.
Ps. Ive gotten black guns for my grown kids. Lot of fun. I prefer my toys old school. Off course they were all lost in that canoe accident.
OF COURSE. NOT Off course
I could see where Doron and his Shabak colleagues could use this.
I was on a canoe trip that went off course once.
I did too. I learned on the old rifles of my father, and got good at them. The ar came along and I didn’t like it.
But I feel that every countryman needs to have the weapon of their country so I picked up a colt 2960le and I’ve been hooked since.
A nice wooden canoe, I’ll bet.
Any other?
I hear people rave about Colemans.
Yeah. I take my Coleman on my 20 fr fiberglass fishing boat. Coleman cooler that is. I wont own a Yeti.
Just fill your Coleman with money. Same thing.
I used to fill it with beer. Then that was no longer acceptable. Now I fill it with ice and hopefully fish.
That's not an improvement, it was already set up for weak hand operation.
waiting to see who totally doesn't realize a left handed shooter is writing this post.
Doooooood! How dense are you? Can you take a friggin hint? These read like a 14 year old wrote them. Are you going to even try to do something about it?
