Senator McCain should express nothing but gratitude that Sarah Palin accepted his offer to be his running mate.
In his new book, The Restless Wave, and in an upcoming HBO documentary, U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) expresses regret about choosing former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate in the 2008 election. According to The New York Times, in the documentary, McCain refers to the Palin selection as another mistake he made in a long political career.
In his new book, McCain reportedly claims that former Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, a Democrat, would have been a better choice for the ticket. McCain noted that his advisers convinced him not to choose the Democrat, so he picked the relatively unknown Alaska Governor.
His only mistake with Palin was not following her campaigning style....”My friend”.....she’s the only reason most of us went to the polling places to touch the screen for the “So and so/Palin” ticket....
He didn’t want to win. Some Republicans prefer to hold office as the minority stake party. And he probably didn’t want to go down in history as the guy who “denied” America its first black president.
He took a dive.
And he considers having Sarah Palin on the ticket as a sell-out of his “legacy”. He’s a crumb bum.
The only race McCain is close to winning is the one with Hillary to the bottom with excuses why his failure came about.
Designated loser.
Hillary is winning the “sorry excuses” race, but McCain is winning the “dirt nap” race.
If he would have picked Lieberman most Conservatives would have not voted.
“shes the only reason most of us went to the polling places to touch the screen for the So and so/Palin ticket....”
Yup.
Yep, he was the designated loser already chosen in the fall of 2007....to ensure Hillary got her fair chance. After she was defeated, the GOP went to an extended designated loser situation. The 2008 GOP primary was probably the weakest selection group in fifty years.
The McCain-Palin campaign had a nice bounce coming out of the RNC, as the entry of Palin into the mix electrified GOP voters. But McCain literally killed that surge when he inexplicably suspended the campaign to engage in talks about the financial crisis. That, along with his you have nothing to fear from an Obama presidency comment during the second debate, told me he had no intention of winning.
I voted for Palin in 08. I voted against obama in 2012.
Thats how that worked for me.
I think Governor Palin should regret the fact that she accepted. If she had remained in politics she could have had the top spot and run for president without dragging the loser John McCain with her.
I shake my head in disgust every time I remember that I voted for that F*wad.
McStain only picked her as a “pig date”. In his opinion she was the worst possible choice, and would assure Hussein’s take over of our Republic.
Conventional wisdom is that she was McCain’s undoing. If you ask the establishment anyway. She was the precursor to what ultimately ushered President Trump into the white house. She had elements of what the deplorables were looking for... and she was much prettier than him. :)
Palin = speed boat
McCain = boat anchor
What idiot Republican, other than McLame, would pick a Democrat for his VP? Especially at the age that McLame was at the time. IMO, that sucker’s desire to stick it to actual conservatives was so great that he thought if he couldn’t stymie them, maybe Lieberman could.
Maybe it all worked out for the best.
It led to Trump being elected. A great outcome!
