I am a Millennial. I am smackdab in the middle of this generation that now makes up the largest portion of the U.S. workforce. I write this out of love, a desire to inform, and a deep concern for where we are and where we are going.
The over-analyzed, overly entitled, and increasingly struggling generation of Americans born roughly between 1981 and 1997 have been berated by a never ending stream of articles about them in recent years. They are the most ethnically and racially diverse in America’s melting pot so far, behind only the generation to follow it. Millennials just passed Gen X-ers as the largest portion of the U.S. workforce as there are now 56 million either working or looking for work as of last year, according to the Pew Research Center.

Why was it not a problem for so many years before? Why was it not a problem when Obama doubled the debt?
Here is a list of Millennials’ policy proposals to improve today’s economic environment:
“Remove all old government officials and term limits for the House and Congress,” a 34-year-old male Republican said.
A number said “Impeach Trump” and “vote.”
“Sleep more because you will be less sensitive to negative emotions,” said a 22-year-old female Democrat.
Maybe they shouldn’t be taking on debt? Maybe they should make better decisions for themselves? Boo Hoo. Welcome to life.
I worked with a lady, who’d gone off in the mid 1990s, and spent five years in a college program (out-of-state tuition rates). By the end, she had raked up around $75k in debt. She was lucky in that she was able to get a decent paying job. So as we worked, it was apparent that the debt and monthly payments were harming her future. She was putting little to nothing in IRAs. She couldn’t afford a house. She was figuring around age 40 that she’d finally climb out of debt. I didn’t say much to her, but it was obvious that it affected her life.
Her husband that she’d married early on....didn’t know about the amount of debt, or the monthly payments required. That marriage lasted three years.
When you look around....there’s hundreds of thousands of people like this, and it’s messed up retirement potential of these people.
Wow...the truth will set you free.
Millennials need to snap out of it. We need to save our money. Work hard. Work long. Have babies. Strive to own a home. Make fiscally responsible decisions and hold our politicians accountable who are bankrupting our country.
We have no other choice.
This is what feel good schools, lack of morals, cell phones, not understanding the political structure, too much TV and falling for the socialist fantasy world lies will get you.
It wasn’t the Baby Boomer generation that started this Train Wreck. This Economic Train Wreck we are on was Started by the Slave Master Generation, some call it the greatest generation, but it is they who Permanently Enslaved the American people in perpetual debt and constant devaluation of the Dollar.

The average national debt per citizen is >$64,000
The average national debt per taxpayer is >$174,000
And rising
The average personal debt per citizen is ~$58,000
The average personal savings is ~$4000
The debt burden on our children and grandchildren is a rapidly rising millstone around their necks, the evidence of this is everywhere

In their defense, have their elders adequately explained the concept of debt or the consequences?
I’m an X-er, and my parents played with debt like it was a “get out of a tight spot “ free card. I also saw tons of ads for home equity loans, saw retail stores in the 90s push store charge cards as you walked through the door, was receiving credit card offers in the mail when I turned 18, and was handed a FASFA form in class to fill out.
It was only by the Grace of God, and Dave Ramsey that I veered off that highway and dont have any of that crushing debt.
But are these kids that fortunate? Can we just call them stupid or are they just being “normal”?
A normal that leads to desperation, that leads to socialism?

Think ahead, don’t wait till 40 yrs later and say; “If only I had......”
Running up debt to become a highly paid doctor or maybe a mba -makes sense. Debt to learn a good trade can make sense. Debt to take 4 or 7 years of sociology or 13th century Turkish lesbian liberation poetry? Less so.

A person in debt is a person controlled. But they think it was their own decision. Hence the Goethe quote above. A nation in debt is a nation controlled. The debt trap is especially insidious, and it relies on the illusion of free will combined with the full weight of ‘the law.
Did he vote for Obama twice?
Stop voting Demwit, stop opposing controls on illegal immigration, and basically, welcome to real life. Crack a book -- history book -- find out that you've had a cushier life than any other generation, including the baby boom. Now STFU. Thanks davikkm.
These same people will spend $600 a month on cell phones & usage, and NOT pay down their college debts.
My sympathy jar is empty.
