Rail workers across France have gone on strike for the first day of a three-month rolling walkout, the latest and potentially biggest battle over labor laws in the country since President Emmanuel Macron took office last May promising to transform the jobs market.

Train services have been severely disrupted, with around 87% of high-speed trains and 80% of regional services canceled Tuesday, according to SNCF, France's state-owned rail company.

Eurostar services were also affected, with one in four services from Paris canceled. High-speed Thalys trains towards Belgium and the Netherlands were operating almost as normal, but there were no services towards Switzerland, Spain or Italy.

When I hear things like this from France, I think about WW2 and think we’d be better off today if the Germans still controlled that sh!thole of a country.

But then I really don’t like the French.

Forget the major strikes kicking off on Tuesday in France over Emmanuel Macron’s reforms. For those fighting the drawn-out battle for the French language, the French president committed the ultimate faux pas last week by tweeting in 'Franglais'.

Macron is a Rockefeller Frenchman, who wants to create a pro-business climate in France.

The business and banking elites are always right in Macron’s world.

The unions don’t agree.

We shall see who wins this one in the end.

The fragility of economic conditions contributes to the uncertainty of the outcome.

In France, that’s normal service. In Italy, it would be an improvement.

three-month rolling walkout

If they walk out, they never walk back in.

If they are on strike to get a 3 day work week, they have arrived.

FWIW. If accurate, only impressive because the rest of the EU sucks more.
