NASA sub called me here in H’ville for an interview as a Test Engineer on the SLS effort. Politely said no. It ain’t the same NASA I grew up with during Apollo.

Instead of operating as originally planned, the James Webb Space Telescope will now operate as a communication satellite broadcasting the Koran as an outreach to Muslims, as well as to study the global warming impact of Christians, guns, and white people.

If you budget a large program for the Bureaucracy, it will cost double the estimates and possibly double the time of development.
No matter how well you plan, budget and execute a plan it will always cost more, take longer and be twice as difficult.

I work for NASA, I strongly advise not working there if you really want to have some positive impact from your job.
The Bureaucrats reign and nothing of substance gets done.
Management is more liberal now than under Obama. I could say little has changed since Trump was elected, but its actually worse now.

NASA needs to be cashiered.
But then we got more realistic and started multiplying by pi.
JWST was good to me.
That said the Webb is an albatross. It has sucked money and personnel out of useful projects that had a real goal.
Just remember if anything goes south once it is in place there is no way to fix it.. Webb is set to be placed at L2 ....no way to get there

It really hurt to have to turn down an agency where the pay and benefits would’ve been fantastic. Who wants a job where you don’t accomplish anything. I’d have a better sense of satisfaction working for the DMV. It’s just not NASA anymore...
