Three times this year I've been hit with a sudden and strong bout of some kind sickness.
It's gone like this: Severe chills, extreme drowsiness, weakness to the point being unable to move for about a half a day. Then the chills turn into a higher temp but not feverish, slight nausea, but still so drowsy and weak. Usually by 2 or 3 am I finally throw up and start feeling better.
The first time I toughed it out and didn't go to the quack. In a couple of days I was fine.
The second time a couple weeks ago I got hit again and went to the medical types. I tested negative for flu but I asked for tamiflu and was OK in a couple of days.
This last round was yesterday. I was having a normal day at the office and within 30 minutes of feeling something wasn't right, I was getting hit hard.
I went straight to the medics and asked them to text me when my slot came open. It was so cold to me, I stayed in my truck with the heat blasting on 75 degree day.
Eventually I got in and examined. My white blood count was very high but nothing else objectionable. Chest X-ray ran and lungs were clean.
Never did I have any breathing or congestion problems.
The antibiotics help so far.
It was the being so cold that scared me a little.
I still seem to be one of those that apparently exists to confound the medical community.
I'm 95% better now and will go to the mines.
At least no one around me including the spousal unit never had so much as a sniffle.
You ran a temp. You demanded Tamiflu even though you did not test positive for influenza
The only quack is you
Have a friend who had like symptoms. Took forever to finally get diagnosed, but it was a treatable type of lymphoma. Now in complete remission.
You’re doing your job as a patient then.
Doc gonna watch that WBC count. But if your symptoms are gone and the WBC is down he’s not going to have anything to go on.
But if it happens again go early and push for a resolution.

You may need to ask your "quack" for a referral to an academic medical center.
Your doc needs to send your for a complete blood test.
1. Could really be an allergen, maybe keep a diary as to where you are, what you eat, when, and possibly pinpoint what it could be if you see a pattern.
2. Agree with the commenters who ask you to seek more medical testing.
3. Agree with secret agent man that you should see if therapeutically upping your minerals and vitamins helps. From his list, Id have you start with the vitamins c, D3, k2, all b vitamins, magnesium, some trace minerals to add to your water glass or bottle (or natural mineral bath if you take baths), and turmeric. Do that for a week and see if it helps. It cant not help you overall, so if it does or doesnt stop your scary symptoms, Id add his other herbs and garlic.
Praying the symptoms never return from now on.
By the way, I developed an adult onset allergy thats is pretty severe, to macadamia nuts. And the doc recommended to avoid all tree nuts. So dont think that because you were not in the past allergic to a substance, it means you still arent.
I asked for some that time but didn’t have a lot of hope for the stuff. The quack was on the fence but didn’t have any better ideas.
Can’t win them all.
Thanks, that saved me time.
That was my first thought too.
Poison?
You don’t say where you are located. If you were in Arizona I would think that you have valley fever, which is hard to diagnose and even harder to get rid of.
Relapsing fever? Might need to check blood for parasite or bacteria or use PCR to check blood out.
this sounds VERY VERY similar to when i came down with Lyme Disease nearly 20 years ago. virtually no one knew anything about it then and so I was never diagnosed nor treated, and after having it for so many years it’s pretty much never going to go away.
To me, one of the tipoffs you mention is that the antibiotics made you feel better which is the same thing that happened to me at the time as well, but the problem is that successful treatment of Lyme Disease can take weeks and even months of antibiotic treatment, so it will come back within days of a short course of antibiotics
i see that you are in SC, and it was either in the low country of SC or western PA where i contracted the disease via tick bite back around the year 2000.
i STRONGLY encourage you to find a doctor who specializes in Lyme Disease and knows how to properly treat it, and be tested for it via a Western Blot test.

If you DO have Lyme Disease, it is a very serious situation that will slowly destroy your life if not PROMPTLY and CORRECTLY treated ASAP.
My wife vomited a couple times “for no reason”. A couple weeks later she had stomach pain so we went in for a checkup.
The doctor slowly pushed his finger into her abdomen, then withdrew it quickly. My wife let out a yelp.
The doctor said she has to go to the hospital right now. Her appendix was ready to burst.
Could be thyroid I had thyroid problem was freezing cold, EXTREMLY tired but no nausea I also gained some weight with no explanation of the weight gain!!! I am not familiar with lyme decease but I understand it is VERY DIFFICULT to diagnose, have you looked VERY CLOSE at your entire body to see if a tick might be present somewhere??? Would be very hard to find if on the scalp in the hair!!!!
Your general symptoms, high white blood cell count, and favorable response to antibiotics suggests that you have what is referred to as an occult infection. Your appendix or gallbladder may be infected, or you might have a tooth gone bad, or you may have any of a long list of other infections and pathogens. Cancer or Type C viral hepatitis cannot be excluded. I recommend that you get an immediate referral to the leading infectious disease specialist in your area, or get to the best teaching hospital in your region. An occult infection can quickly turn septic and become life-threatening.
