The risk of dying prematurely is more than doubled for single fathers compared to single mothers or fathers who are in a relationship. This is the result of a study done in Canada and published on February 15 by The Lancet Public Health. According to the researchers, this phenomenon of single fathers' early death is explained by stress and "less healthy lifestyles.
Among the 871 fathers without a partner counted, the mortality rate was 5.8 per 1000 per year. This is significantly higher than among single mothers (1.7 per 1000 per year) and fathers in couples (1.9 per 1000 per year). By taking into account factors specific to these single fathers, who are on average older and more often affected by cancer or cardiovascular diseases, the risk of mortality remained twice as high.
Single Father's diet and Lifestyle
The reason is not established with certainty, but researchers suspect an unbalanced diet, lack of exercise, and higher alcohol consumption. In addition, these men have, it seems, "less often a social network, social assistance, or support in the education of their children" than single mothers.
Maria Chiu, the lead author of the survey and a public health researcher at the University of Toronto, said the results of this survey showed "a real need for public health policies to help identify and support these men.
Researchers point out, however, that there are limits to this study and that more research is needed to reinforce their results.
Finally, remember that cancers and cardiovascular diseases are added to suicides. And for proof, in 2009, there were 3,890 suicides in Canada, affecting "single, divorced, or widowed" more often, with "a rate three times higher among men," says Statistics Canada, a federal government agency in charge of the country's statistics.
Completed between 2000 and 2012, the study took questionnaires from 200,922 Canadian respondents, 40,521 of which were single parents or couples, aged 15 years and over. This is probably why marriage may help you to avoid dementia
You seem to be the one with the problem.

Single dad, wife bailed, get no child support, nothing!
Diet, I’m happy to be eating
Exercise, I work heavy construction
All I do is work and sleep
A fanatic on Cheetos should never be underestimated...
I think single fathers have to work twice as hard to be both dad and mom. Same for single mothers except women statistically tend to live longer than men.
That’s why families are so important. Men and women have different roles to play in the rearing of children. When they work together they share the workload and support each other. It’s like two plow horses that are yoked together. They can carry a heavier load and get more done.
My advice is to seek a mate and re-establish a family environment in which to raise the children. I know it’s easier said than done. But if you really love your children you should try for their sake.
How can you tell whether or not they are single fathers?
Well, no wedding ring is the first step.
That was cute. Wish I could have made that work!
I was raised by my father. He did cook fairly good. We had a limited menu. I remember pork chops a lot. Lots of large pots of beans (pintos, butter beans, great northern) and cornbread. Vegetables were primarily potatoes, kale, onions, corn, and tomatoes. I learned how to make the very best chili and gravies from him. I learned to make cakes and biscuits from scratch experimenting and reading labels. We did pretty good.
I think his health was always good because he didn’t take a bunch of ‘preventative med’ pills. He avoided docs like the plague. He never trusted them. Then when he went to a couple for some minor things they would always ask what he is taking because he was so healthy. The only time he got really sick was from some medicines they placed him on. Then later a couple bouts with pneumonia.
I thank God for every day I have him in my life.
Could be.
I suspect that many “single” fathers are homosexuals...since its all the rage nowadays for men to be mommies and daddies rolled all in one...
LOL. You must be more observant than I am.
