Got me A Russian Blue
N/A

Posted on 02/02/2018 8:11:09 AM PST by CodeJockey

My wife adopted this beautiful little kitten this past summer. A friend of hers came to visit the other day and she told us she believed out little cat was a Russian Blue.

Never heard of that animal. She is very well mannered. Waves her tail like a dog. Great companion to our Black Lab/Border Collie mix.

I'm starting to call her Ruskie Blue. (Hope the FBI is not listening) Anyone else familiar with this breed?

Had a Russian Blue when I was a kid - as other posters have indicated, they are little dogs in cat suits! Our Blue used to play along with all us kids...dodge ball, tag, hide and seek (I lived in the golden age of childhood!). He was a sweetheart!

He has a sister who was a little gray tabby. She wasn't interested in anything but hunting and killing. She used to bring back as "presents" creatures we didn't even know were native to our state!

Your pictures didn't come through for me so I'll have to look again later at home. Great breed!

Looks exactly like the cat I had in my apartment early twenties days, Ziggy (short for Sigmund Emmanuel Katt). His preternatural intelligence and precociousness were demonstrated when he jumped up and perched himself on my boss’s head during a staff meeting. And later when my brother came by the house, knocked on the door, saw the drape over the door’s window pushed aside and Ziggy stare out, and then reach down to try and turn the deadbolt.

Try telling her that. Had her neutered or spayed (which ever) when she was younger. I believe she thinks she is the cats mother.

First they said you could choose your own gender.

Now, you can choose your own species...

I had one for17 years. Mean as a snake. He only loved me and bit everyone else. My Mom once said that the only person in the world who loved Louie was me. LOL!

When the Old Man was between wives, one of the divorced ladies down the street had a litter of Russian Blues. She gave Dad one. The Old Man named it Semaramis, after the Egyptian Cat goddess. For the first few months, before I when to college, it was called Sam.

After the first time she came into heat, and sat at the back door, squalling "I LUUUVVV YOOOOUUU" to the neighborhood, he got her fixed, and it was thereafter known as Sam Spade...

Great Cat!definitely looks like a Russian blue, type cat. Excuse if a repeat from anyone—the eye color does say something about the genetics, but I forget what that is, exactly. (has to do with recessive/expressive genes from the parent’s.)
