My wife adopted this beautiful little kitten this past summer. A friend of hers came to visit the other day and she told us she believed out little cat was a Russian Blue.
Never heard of that animal. She is very well mannered. Waves her tail like a dog. Great companion to our Black Lab/Border Collie mix.
I'm starting to call her Ruskie Blue. (Hope the FBI is not listening) Anyone else familiar with this breed?
I would say that is a Russian Blue Steppe Cat.
One way to be sure is to put out a Balalika and a bottle of vodka.
If it starts purring, then its a Russian Blue Steppe Cat.
That is a beautiful cat.
Got one.
2nd as a matter of fact

Fetches the cat toys.Doesnt damage furniture.

russian blues are FANTASTIC kitties!!!
Such a beautiful kitty!
aww, that’s my Franky the Impaler!!! I had that cat for a long time, he would bring me headless squirrels and put them in my shoe. I figured all the squirrel heads were on sticks somewhere, to warn the other squirrels. A true doll baby cat.
Hard to tell from pics but are you cat’s eyes green or yellowish? Russian blues only have green eyes. There is another breed that looks very similar and is often mistaken for a Russian blue. They are called French Chartreuse, which is what I think your kitty may be. Very hardy and long lived breed.
One of my godkitties was a one. We called her Grey lady.
Yes. The Russian Blues are exceptionally loving and intelligent. All within their sphere are loved equally, even if differently.
My little festus died at the age of 18, and if I had not let him outside when he willed it, he may have lived longer (he got hit by a car).
There is no replacing him - ever.
Beautiful!
have an identical cat that we got as a kitten. It was eating out of a dumpster when some vet school students found it at Topsail Beach in NC. Somehow we ended up with it. It doesnt meow as much as it cries at you with a long extended cry.
That’s true. I rescued mine from a shelter, as I looked in another pen next to his, I got that long extended cry. Carried him out then and there.
I found out he had a broken femur, so we had it taken care of. That’s how he got the name festus (I forgot that it was Chester on gun smoke that had the limp, LOL)
Looks like one of our mixed breeds. Very handsome. Green eyes and short thick coat that doesn’t shed as much as the other cats. Smart little guy. He decided his half siblings needed to have a home so brought them in. They love him so much and he keeps them in line. Loves the dogs, too. Sweet guy who sleeps with me.
Russian collusion ?
We have a Russian Blue and he looks exactly like yours, only older/bigger. Mellow, loving, smart, connects with us. We joke that some day he’s going to start speaking. He’s velvety so named him Mel (after Mel Torme, “The Velvet Fog”).
I had a Russian Blue that I rescued from a dumpster as a kitten.
I let him outside because my yard and neighborhood were ideal for it. A few weeks into his adulthood he “went missing”
It was months later when my new girlfriend, rather illegally, looked in my neighbors (I had a naked fat guy neighbor) window and told me that he was wandering around naked with cats following him.
One of them was mine.
not guilty
