New Jersey Democrats Introduce Bill to BAN Your Current Rifles as “Assault Weapons”

New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- With the take over of the New Jersey Governors office by rabid gun banning Democrat, Phil Murphy, the first attack on NJ gun owners rights and property, of what will be many, has been launched. The proposed bill would ban most all the rifles and shotguns you currently own and legally bought under the current NJ laws.

Sponsored by state senator Senator Nia H. Gill this bill would “strengthen” the State’s current assault weapons ban by revising the definition of an “assault weapon” to include: rifles with detachable magazines and one military style feature; semi-automatic shotguns with one military style feature; and semi-automatic pistols with one military style feature.

You can read the bill here:

The current definition of an assault weapon sets forth a list of prohibited firearms and specifically includes any firearm that is “substantially identical” to any of the enumerated firearms. Under State regulations, a semi-automatic firearm is to be considered substantially identical to an enumerated firearm if it meets certain criteria. This bill codifies these regulations while expanding the number of firearms that would be considered assault weapons by adding criteria and reducing the number of criteria that must be met from two to one. For example, under current regulations, a semi-automatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two listed criteria would be considered an assault weapon.

These criteria include:

-a folding telescoping stock,

-a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;

-a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor;

Felt dice hanging from rear view mirror.

Was going through your list saying, that's not me, that's me, until I got to the dice. Now, I'm a criminal. Who knew it would be this easy?

Just a reminder, then Carpetbagger Senator from New York Hillary Clinton wanted to implement a 55 MPH Speed Limit.

That act alone would guarantee her disqualification from any Elected Office IMHO.

At some point, these people need to be taken through the Federal Courts for operating a De Facto nullification of the Second Amendment.

These laws which criminalize the ownership of a legally purchased weapon in effect are ex-post facto laws and constitute an illegal taking.

Think about it. Your New Jersey property tax bill of $18,000 is no longer tax deductible. That has consequences and have put the fear into their state government.

Taxation, it's application, rates, and levels has had a history here in America. History does repeat itself.

No one wants to take your guns away. Today.

The liberals plan to gradually make gun ownership so difficult and expensive that many will give them up. They won’t try outlawing and confiscation because that would result in a shooting war that they could not win.

First, they will outlaw certain types of guns. Any firearm that can accept a detachable magazine will become an “assault weapon”. Your scoped .30-06 deer rifle will become a “sniper rifle”. Your 12 gauge pump shotgun will become a “street sweeper”. They will outlaw “armor piercing” ammunition which will be defined as any bullet that can penetrate soft body armor.

Then they will institute high capacity magazine bans and prohibitions against transferring them, safe storage requirements, mandatory liability insurance, registration, restrictions on where and how you can carry and use a gun, violation of any one of them will be a felony that takes away your RKBA. They will require expensive and lengthy “safety training”.

Then there will be high taxes on ammunition and firearms, background checks before you can buy ammunition or reloading components, universal background checks on firearms, elimination of instant background checks, mandatory waiting periods where the government can delay approval indefinitely.

They will have secret “no buy” lists that any politician or LEO or bureaucrat can add to and no one is allowed to see. There will be with no due process once your name is on it. There will be a ban on the manufacture of new firearms, except for the government, of course, and a total ban on the transfer of existing firearms, even to relatives in a will.

And don’t forget about “smart guns” which will be ridiculously expensive, unreliable, and easily overridden and defeated to make it possible for the police to disable them remotely. All new firearms will be required to have them and eventually they will require ALL firearms to be retrofitted with them. Which is impossible of course, but anyone caught with a dumb gun will be charged with a felony and jailed.

All of this will be done a step at a time with the promise of safety. Their safety as the sit behind desks in buildings with bulletproof glass and ride around in armored limousines living in the best houses and eating the finest food your money can buy.

During all this, your children and grandchildren will be flooded with propaganda that tells them that no one needs guns and that they should rat out family members and friends with “illegal” guns and how “good citizens” turn in grandpop’s guns when he dies.

By that time, the citizens will be brainwashed into believing that it’s for their own good as the warden slams the doors shut.

Why wouldn’t they? There are no consequences to them. We don’t riot in the streets, beat them, or assassinate them.

They could begin having "accidents", though.

The first $10,000 is.

That phenomenon extends throughout our whole nation.
The reality is that most true conservatives have delightful families, gracious friends, good jobs, well-maintained homes, and drive nice cars.
In short, we have lots of good reasons to behave in a civilized manner...unlike many crackpot leftwingers...who cannot project their lives beyond next month.

Quite true. Should that be our only consideration?

That is likely made on a state-by-state basis and more specifically an individual basis depending on “how infringed” people feel themselves to be. Good post!
